Description
LOUIS HARTOCI-I, 0F DUSSELDORF, GERMANY.
BROOCH-FASTENER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 16, 1911.
Application filed May 6, 1910. Serial No. 559,765.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, Louis HARTOOH, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, resid ing at Dusseldorf, Rhenish Prussia, Germany, have invented new and useful Improvements in Brooch-liasteners of which the following is a specification.
The object of the invention is to provide means for securing a brooch to a collar without piercing the latter, and the invention consists in certain improvements in construction which will be fully disclosed in the following specification and claim.
In the accompanying drawing, which forms part of this specification Figure 1 represents the back half of the stud. Fig. 2 an elevation partly in section of the front half of the same, and Fig. 3 a top plan view of the latter with a brooch attached.
Reference being had to the drawing and the designating characters thereon, a indicates a collar button to which are secured two parallel tubular shanks b, b and protrude at a right angle to the button.
it indicates an elongated hollow member provided with pins 8, s which enter the tubular shanks b, b and are secured therein by a spring catch of ordinary and well known construction, such as is used on glove fasteners and the like, which engages the grooves in the ends of the pins. The ends of the member 72 are open for the insertion of the pin n on the brooch 1c, and the brooch is secured in position by a spring 7 within the member h, by pressing against the pin and crowding it against the inner wall of said member, as shown in Fig. 3. The spring by its concavo-convex form also serves as a guide to the pin as it is being pushed through the member h. The two shanks b, b and the pins 8, s prevent the brooch turning in the button and always hold the brooch in proper position.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim is: I
A brooch fastener, comprising a button provided with tubular shanks, and a hollow member open at its ends, provided with pins for engaging said shanks, and a spring within the hollow member for guiding and securing the pin of a brooch.
LOUIS HARTOOH. 1. 3.
