SASH PASTENER.

UNITED STATES PATENT I OFFICE.
HENRY H. MEYER, OF ATKINSON, NEBRASKA.
SASH-FASTEN ER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 411,128, dated September 17, 1889.
Application filed May 13, 1889. Serial No. 310,515. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, HENRY H. MEYER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Atkinson, in the county of Holt and State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Window-Looks; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification. 7
My invention has relation to window-locks; and it consists in the novel construction and arrangement of its several parts.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents part of a window-sash and of a window-frame with my lock attached to the sash and in position to lock the same. Fig. 2 is a side view of my invention with the greater part of one of the flanges cut away, so that the operating parts of the lock may be seen. Figs. 3, 4, 5, and 6 are detail views.
In the accompanying drawings, A represents the window-frame, B the sash, and C the lock.
The letters for detail descriptions are put on Fig. 2 and the detail views.
My invention is described as follows: a, Fig. 5, represents the lock -plate provided with the perforated extensions a, that it may be secured to the face of the sash B, the body of the lock being sunk into a mortise a cut in the face of said sash, and its lever-arm a working through a perforation in said sash. The said lock-plate a is also provided with flanges b I), having perforations b. The said plate is also provided with a large perforation 0, for the locking-nib c of the lockinglever c to pass through, sothat it may enter the perforation d in the frame-plate d. The
locking-lever c is pivoted through its center perforation c in the plate a by a pin 0 passing through said perforations, its lower end 0 adapted to pass through the perforation c. To its upper end is pivoted a lever-arm a the front end of which is slotted and provided with depressions a Said locking-lever is held to its position by means of a spring E, the U-shaped end 6 of which rests in the said depressions or, so that it may be held in place and not slip from contact with said lever-arm. The two arms of said spring then pass down and are coiled around the pin 0 and then are turned up and rest against the inner face of the plate a, immediately under the U-shaped end 6.
Having described my invention, whatI claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s-
The combination, with a window frame and sash, of the window-lock 0, having the plate a, provided with the perforated extensions a, perforated flanges b, and the perforation c, locking-lever c pivoted between said flanges by means of the pin a", the locking-nib passing through said perforation c, lever-arm a, pivoted to the upper end of said lever and having in its slotted end the depressions a spring E, having its U-shaped end fitting in said depressions a its arms passing down and coiling around the pin 0 then up and resting against the inner face of the plate a, immediately under the U-shaped end e, substantially as shown and described, and for the purposes set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
HENRY I-I. MEYER.
