SPECIFICATION forming part ofLetters Patent No. 388,402I dated August 28, 1888. Application tiled August 29, 1887. Serial No. 248.221. (No model.)

Be it known that I, EZRA S. DODGE, a citizen of the AUnited States, residing at Providence, in the State of Rhode Island, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Cuff- Fasteners, of which the following is aspecit'lcation.
My invention relates to that class of cufffasteners which are attached to a cuff-button; and it consists in the improved construction ofthe locking-catch whereby the fastening-pin is secured within the cavity of the hollow post of the button, as hereinafter fully set forth.
Figure 1 is an elevation of myimproved cufffastener. Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the button which engages the fastening-pin. Fig. 8 is a transverse section taken in the line x x, Fig. 1. Fig. 4. is a top view of the perforated spring-plate for holding the pin.
In the accompanying (drawings, A is the shoe, Bthe hollow post, and C the head, of the cuff-button. Within the fiaring base cof the hollow post is placed the aringperforated spring-plate D, which serves to clasp the notched end c of the pin E when the said pin is passed through the sleeve and inserted into the cavity b of the hollow post thus serving to securely lock the bnttoned cuff to the sleeve.
