The nature ofthis invention consists of al very simple and adjustable arrangement for Ventilating;` rooms through a window thereof Without subjecting the occupants to a ehilling` draft of air or the damnness of a rain-storni. A single piece or" thin metallic plate, A, from eight to twelve inches .in iength by three in gitndinally, as shown in Fig. 2, so that the upper part, c, serves as e shelter .to protect the lower part from rain, .and also constitutes a gioove, e, for the purpose of guiding the upper edge of the sliding plate B, andthe bottom constitutes two grooves, n and u. the formerot'whicli holds and guides the bottom ofthe sliding plate B, and the latter embraces and rests upon t'ne upper edgeof the glass g. The upper portion of a pane ot'l glass, g, being` removed, this plate is inserted and properly secured in the place thereot, and asiitiing plate, ij', perforated likethe stationary plate, and having a knob or handle, w, attached to the iront thereof, is inserted in the grooves e and n, for the purpose of closing occasionally the apertures in the plate A. At each end ofthe stationary plete is a triangular piece of Wood or metal, X, inserted under the shelter o'for the purpose of holding the said shelter in its proper position, the upper edge otl the shelterepldte beingfse cured to the sash S.
What l claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A Ventilating attachment to a Window, consisting of the parts A, B, C, .'r, and fw, or its equivalent, when arranged enti combined with the sash and glass, all as herein shown and describe-l. l
