Definitions

  • the present invention relates in general to means for locking tilting or pivoting windows in both closed and ajar or partly-open positions, notably in automotive vehicles.
  • a known and very popular device of this type comprises a pair of hingedly interconnected links registering with the pivot axis of the window.
  • the folded positions of this pair of links corresponds to the closed position of the window, and when the links are spread to their unfolded position the window is set ajar.
  • the device of this invention which is characterised in that it comprises resilient means for urging the window to its closed position, a lock having three lugs pivoted about an axis parallel to the plane of the window and comprising a first control lug adapted, when rotated, to rotate in turn on the one hand another lug for setting and retaining the window ajar, said last-named lug being substantially perpendicular to the first lug, and on the other hand, with a moderate play, a third intermediate locking lug engaged by the window in the closed position thereof, and other resilient means urging said locking lug to its locking positions.
  • the means for resiliently urging the window to its closed position comprise a torsion bar disposed along one edge of the window which is opposite to said locking device.
  • a spring blade bent twice in opposite directions and substantially at right angles comprises an opening adapted to co-act with a heel projecting from the locking lug in the closed-window position.
  • Another heel provided on said locking lug is adapted to co-act with said spring blade for locking the window.
  • the locking lug comprises another projection engageable by the spring blade for locking the device in the semi-open position, and further comprises a notch receiving one portion of the spring blade in the release position.
  • FIGS. 3 to 6 are views similar to FIG. 2 but showing on a larger scale the locking device in its closed position, release position, ajar position and window-release position, respectively.
  • This locking device 9 is secured to the window frame, opposite said torsion bar, by means of a bracket or like support It).
  • This locking device 9 illustrated in section in HO. 2 comprises a control lug 11 adapted to rotate about an axis 12.
  • the window I is adapted to be moved and held in the closed position by simply depressing the lug 11 in a direction of the arrow f thus causing the locking lug 14 to rotate and engage with its end 20 the window I.
  • the heel I5 is thus caused to engage opening 16 so that the spring blade can be lowered and the window closed completely.
  • Device for locking a pivoting window in its closed position and in a partly open or ajar position characterised in that it comprises resilient means for urging the window to its closed position, a three-lug locking member pivoted about an axis parallel to the plane of said window and comprising a control lug adapted when rotated to cause the simultaneous rotation of the one hand of a second lug adapted to retain the window in the ajar position, said second lug being directed substantially at right angles to said control lug, and on the other hand of a third intermediate locking lug driven with a moderate clearance, against which the window is pressed in the closed position, and a resilient member normally urging said locking member to its locking position.
  • Locking device characterised in that said resilient member comprises a spring blade bent twice substantially at right angles and in opposite directions.
  • Locking device characterised in that said spring blade comprises an opening adapted to co-act with a heel formed integrally with said locking lug in the closed position of said window.
  • Locking device characterised in that the lug adapted to set the window ajar comprises an integral heel adapted to co-act with the spring blade for releasing the window.
  • Locking device characterised in that said locking lug comprises a projection engaged by said spring blade for locking the device in the ajar position.
  • Locking device characterised in that said locking lug has formed therein a notch engageable by said spring blade in the window release position.
