Be it known that 1, JOHN S. VOORHEES, of Brooklyn,county of Kings, State of New York, a citizen of the United States, have invented an Improved Package-Wrapper,of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to theaccompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.

My invention relates to wrappers for use in making packages of collars, cuffs, and similar articles for delivery to and from a laundry; and my invention consists in apackage wrapper, as an article of manufacture, consisting of a stiff-paper body adapted to be rolled upon itself, a pocket or band extending from side to side of the body at one end thereof, a flap or free end to the body'at the opposite end thereof, soft, flexible, and pliant wings, one on each longitudinal edge of the body and of a width or extending such distance from said side edges of the body as will adapt said wings, when said body is rolled up,to be indiscriminately crushed or folded each upon itself, and to be forced within and project wholly into the ends of the roll constituted by the body, together with means for maintaining the body in a roll, all as hereinafter set forth, and for the purpose specified.

Figure 1 is a plan view of my improved packagewrapper,showing the same open flat. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same, showing the wrapper rolled up, but with the flexible end aprons still open; and Fig. 3 is a reverse side elevation showing the wrapper wholly closed.

A is the body of the wrapper,composed of stiff paper which is sufficiently flexible fiatwise only to be rolled upon itself, as shown. The said body is, preferably to adapt it to the special use for which itis intended as an article of manufacture, of a length greater than its width-that is to say,of a length somewhat greater than that of a mans collar and of a width slightly greater than a mans shirt-cuff.

edges of the body A, which may be done by gum ming, orin any other suitable manner; and their outward ends or edges are entirely free, and the wings themselves extend, one from each side edge of the body,to such a distance or length that when the body is rolled into a cylinder, and the wings are crushed or folded indiscriminately each upon itself and pressed into the ends of the cylindrical roll, said folded wings will extend Wholly within and project into the cylinder formed by the roll.

At the end of the body A which is opposite to the end bearing the band or pocket B, I form the flap B, and to this flap may be secured the tape sh own in the drawings, adapted to be wound around the rolled wrapper and tied to hold the wrapper in a roll.

The wrapper constructed as shown and described is adapted to have collars and cuffs or similar objects inserted by one end thereof in or under the pocket or band B, and then to be rolled up, as shown in Fig. 2, andh'eld in such roll by the tape or string, which may be permanently secured to the flap end of the body or by an elastic band or other fastener.

The flexible wings O can then be gathered or folded indiscriminately upon themselves and crowded wholly into the ends of the cylindrical roll, so closing said ends of the roll and making a finished cylindrical package, as shown in Fig. 3. In the package thus constituted collars and cuffs may be inclosed in the most desirable manner for transportation and delivery from a laundry.

Vith the package-wrapper constructed as described I find'it desirable to combine a-detachable tablet, D, which is preferably made of stout paper or cardboard, and which may be made to serve to bear a record or account of the articles inclosed in the package, and be,

. the card to the package; but I prefer to employ the devices described, independent of the tape or band, for this purpose. By means of this construction the wrapper may be used to inclose successive packages of collars and cuffs, the card D being detached and a new one, bearing a proper list, substituted for each package made up.

'What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. As an article of manufacture, a package- Wrapper specially adapted for inclosing laundry-packages, as set forth, consisting of the stiff-paper body A, adapted to be rolled into a cylinder, a pocket or band extending laterally of said body at one end thereof, a flap at the opposite end of said body, and the flexible, pliant, and thin wings O and 0, one on each longitudinal side edge of said body and of the described width from the side edges of said body to their outward ends and said outward ends being wholly free, all constructed and combined as set forth, whereby,,when said body is rolled up, said wings may be indiscriminately crushed or folded, each upon it self, and in this condition be projected inwardly of and seated wholly within the bodyroll, as specified.

2. A package-Wrapper specially adapted for inclosing laundry-packages, consisting of the stiff-paper body A, adapted to be rolled into a cylinder and slotted at a, apocket or band,

B, extending laterally of said body at one end thereof, and the flexible, pliant, and thin wings O and 0, one on each longitudinal side edge of said body, with their outward endswholly free and adapted in length to be indiscriminately crushed or folded, each upon itself, and in this condition be projected inwardly of and seated wholly within the body roll, all combined to operate substantially as specified.

3. The combination, with a package-Wrapper composed of a stiff body-piece, A, and the flexible wing-pieces C C on the side edges of said body, of the card or tablet D,detacl1- ably connected to said body, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
