To aZZ whom it may concern Be it known that I, Grouse LEWIS Oscoon, of Ayer, in the county of Middlesex and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in C01- lar and Necktie Cases, of which the following is a specification.

This invention has for its object to pro vide a case adapted to hold and protect a group or bunch of curled laundried collars, and a group or bunch, of four-in-hand neckties, and other articles, if desired, the case being adapted to be conveniently opened to permit access to all the confined articles, and to be conveniently folded in compact form to close the case confine and protect its contents, the case when closed bein adapted to be packed with other contents of a traveling bag or trunk, and subjected to compressive pressure without liability of injury to the case and its contents.

The invention consists in the improvements which I will now proceed to describe and claim.

Of the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification: Figure, 1 represents a perspective view showing the case opened; Fig. 2 represents a perspective view showing the case partly closed, a portion of the necktie-holding envelop being broken away; Fig. 3 represents a perspective view showing the case closed; Fig. 4 represents a section on line 4& of Fig. 1.

The same reference characters indicate the same or similar parts in all the views.

In the drawings :12 represents a rectangular frame composed of four relatively stiff side pieces united to form a stiff frame adapted to surround a group of laundried collars 13, the collars being curled and tend ing to uncurl or expand against the sides of the f Qhe ends of the frame are open or, in other words, are not closed by stiff n aterial, and are provided with flexible inand outer members 1% and 15 adapted to prevent edgewise displacement or removal of the collars from the frame. Each of said members is preferably fowned by a strip of cloth stitched at its outer edge to the frame and forming a flexible flange projecting inwardlv over the collar-containing space, the inner edge of the strip being Shirred and provided with a drawstring 16. The ends 15 of the strip forming the outer member '15 are separable from each other, so that said member may be held contracted by its draw-string, as indicated by Fig. 2, and may be expanded by sliding its shirred edge on the draw-string to permit the insertion and removal of the collars.

To one of the side pieces of the frame is connected by a hinge 18 an elongated limp and flexible necktie-holding envelop indi cated as a whole by the reference numeral 19. Said envelop may be composed of a body member 19 of limp leather and flaps 19 19, stitched to the longitudinal edges of the body member and formed to meet over the longitudinal center of said member, to cover neclzties 21 laid on the body member, fasteners preferably composed of stud members and socket members 23 being' provided to detachably connect said flaps.

The hinge 18 may be a strip of leather stitched to one of the side pieces of the frame and to a portion of one of the longitudinal ed es of the envelop.

A relatively short portion of the envelop projects in one direction from the frame and a longer portion projects in the opposite direction, shown by Fig. 1. The longer portion is provided at its outer end with a socket fastening member 25 adapted to engage a stud fastening member 26 on the shorter portion when the envelop is wrapped around the frame, as shown by Fig. 3, the length of the said longer portion being such that it is adapted to extend across one of the frame sides, across one of the open ends of the frame and partly across the opposite frame side, where it overlaps the upwardly turned shorter portion and is secured thereto by the engagement of the fastening members 25 and 26, as indicated by Fig. 3.

The outer or swinging longitudinal edge of the envelop is provided with a flap or tab 28 adapted to be turned upwardly against one side of the frame, as shown by Figs. 2 and 3, the frame being provided with stud fastening members 29, and the flap with socket fastening members 30 whereby the flap may be secured to the frame.

It will now be seen, that the case may be conveniently opened, as shown by Fig. 1, to permit free access to the contained collars and the neckties, and closed in compact form, as shown by Fig. 3, the envelop covering both ends of the frame when the case is closed.

Qwing t0 the limp and flexible character of the envelop, the end-covering portions thereof are adapted to sink into the ends of the frame when the closed case is tightly packed between other articles in a bag or trunk, so that the case is compressible to reduce its thickness without liability of injury to the collars, crushing of which is prevented by the stiffness of the frame.

To the outer side of the body member 19 of the envelop may be attached a handkerchief pocket 32 and a flap 33 covering the mouth of the pocket and provided with a socket fastening member 3a adapted to engage a complemental fastening member on the pocket. When the case is closed the pocket 32 extends across one end of the frame, as indicated by Fig. 3.

Having described my invention, I claim:

1. A collar and neck-tie case comprising a stiff collar-holding frame having means for preventing edgewise displacement of curled collars confined therein, an elongated flexible neck-tie-holding envelop, and a hinge connection between .one of the longitudinal edges of said envelop and one of the sides of said frame whereby the frame and envelop may be either swung apart to entirely uncover the envelop, or closed together with a portion of the envelop covered by the frame,

and one end of the frame closed by a portion of the envelop, another portion of the envelop being adapted to be folded over the opposite end of the frame and close said end.

2. A collar and neck-tie case comprising a stiff collar-holding frame having means for preventing edgewise displacement of curled collars confined therein, an elongated flexible neck-tie-holding envelop, and a hinge connection between one of the longitudinal edges of said envelop and one of the sides of said frame whereby the frame and envelop may be either swung apart to entirely uncover the envelop, or closed together with a portion of the envelop covered by the frame, and one end of the frame closed by a portion of the envelop, another portion of the envelop being adapted to be folded over the opposite end of the frame and close said end,

the frame and envelop being provided with complemental fastening members whereby they may be secured together when the envelop is folded over the frame.

3. A collar and neck-tie case comprising a stiff collar-holding frame having means for preventing edgewise displacement of curled collars confined therein, an elongated flexible necktie-holding envelop, and a hinge connection between one of the longitudinal edges of said envelop and one of the sides of said frame whereby the frame and envelop may be either swung apart to entirely uncover the envelop, or closed together with a portion of the envelop covered by the frame, and one end of the frame closed by aportion of the envelop, another portion of the outer end of said covering portion constituting a tab adapted to overlap and be secured to the first mentioned tab, thesaid tabs being provided with complemental fastening members whereby they may be secured together.

4. A collar and neck-tie case comprising a stiff collar-holding frame having means for preventing edgewise displacement of curled collars confined therein, an elongated flexible neck-tie-holding envelop, and a hinge connection between one of the longitudinal edges of said envelop and one of the sides of said frame whereby the frame and envelop may be either swung apart to entirely uncover the envelop, or closed together with a portion of the envelop covered by the frame, and one end of the frame closed by a portion of theenvelop, another portion of the envelop being adapted to be folded over he opposite end of the frame and close said end, the swinging edge of the envelop being.

provided-with a tabformed and arranged to overlap one side of the frame, said tab and body side being provided with complemental fastening members whereby the swinging edge of the envelop may be secured to the corresponding side of the body.

5. A collar and neck-tie case comprising a stiff collar-holding frame having flexible end members adapted to prevent edgewise displacement of curled collars inserted in said frame and to sink into the frame from opposite ends thereof, means being provided for holding said members in their operative positions, and an elongated flexible neck-tieholding envelop hinged to one side of said frame and adapted to be wrapped about the frame and cover both ends thereof, the frame-end-co-vering portions of the envelop being adapted to sink with said end members into the frame.
