To all whom t may concern Be it known that I, LEOPOLD Hausnr, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the borough of Manhattan of the city of New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Folding Necktie-Holders, of which the following is a specification.

The invention relates to necktie holders and one of the objects is to produce a neat and attractive tie holder in which the ties can be kept in tidy arrangement when the holder is in extended or unfolded position and which can be readily folded and yet retain the ties in good condition when the holder is placed in a travelers grip or other receptacle.

The tie holder which is the subject of this invention is particularly useful for tourists or other traveling men.

As showing a specific embodiment of the invention reference is made to the drawings forming a part of this specication.

In said drawings Figure 1 represents one form of tie holder in its unfolded or extended position. Fig. 2 is a view of the same holder in its folded or closed position. Fig. 3 is a longitudinal sectional view taken on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1 looking in the direc- A tion of the arrows. Fig. 4L is a transverse sectional view taken on the line 1 -4 of Fig. 1 looking in the direction of the arrows. Fig. 5 is a transverse sectional view taken on the line 5-5 of Fig. 1 looking in the direction of the arrows. Fig. 6 illustrates another form of holder in its extended or unfolded position. Fig. 7 illustrates the same holder in its folded or closed position. Fig. 8 is a longitudinal sectional view taken on the line 8 8 of Fig. 6 looking in the direction of the arrows. Fig. 9 is a transverse sectional view taken on the line 9-9 of Fig. 6, looking in the direction of the arrows.

In both forms of the invention which is shown in the drawings the tie holder comprises a main member. This main member is designated as A in Fig. 1 and as B in Fig. 6. Flach of these main members comprises a back or body portion, an under flap or lower portion and an upper flap or top portion.

In the form of holder illustrated in Figs. l to 5 inclusive the back or body portion is designated by C, the under flap or lower portion by D, and the upper liap or top portion by E. In the form illustrated in Figs. 6 to 9 the back or body portion is designated by F, the under flap or lower portion by G,

and the upper flap or top portion by Il.

In each forni a metallic` tie-supporting bar, rod or loop II is connected by means of the hinge members IJ to the upper part of the back or body portion of the tie holder. It will be observed from an inspection of the drawings that this supporting bar K extends transversely of the tie holder and that it is located on the inner side of the back.

The upper flap in each form of holder is provided with a pocket or receptacle M that is located on the inner side of said flap. This pocket or receptacle has a small flap or cover m, the free end of which is secured in place by the clasp or clip n.

In the form shown in Figs. 1 to 5 inclusive I there is a pair of overlapping inner flaps N and O which are detachably secured tO- gether at their free ends by the clasps or clips. o. The outer edges of these overlapping inner fiaps are secured to the lower flap near the side edges thereof, as is indicated at o and o. Between these overlapping inner flaps N and O on the one hand and the lower flap l) on the other there is provided a space P for receiving the free ends of the ties which are strung over the supporting bar K. The upper flap and the under flap are each provided with coperating catch or clip members which are designated respectively as d and e. These serve as means for detachably securing the upper flap to the under flap when the flaps occupy a folded position. The member e is also provided with an opening f'for receiving a hook or other member upon which the holder is hung when being used in its unfolded position.

From what has preceded, and also from an inspection of the drawings, it will be observed that the catch member on the upper flap has two ears and that one of these ears is located on the outside of the flap and the other on the inside of the iiap. It will also be noted that each of these ears is provided with the opening which receives a member or hook upon which the holder is hung.

When the ties are in place on the supporting bar Ii and the holder is hung in place in its extended position in a room the free ends of the ties preferably remain outside or" the inner flaps n and o. rlhe free ends oif the ties are inserted in the receiving space P under the overlapping flaps a and o when it is desired to fold the holder. ln the form shoivn in Figs. l. to 5 the under flap and also the body are prorided u'ith cooperating clasp or catch members (j and 7:, which serve as means .tor detachably securing the edge portions oi" the back and under flap together thus causing the folded holder to have a niat and attractive ap pearance to a person loolring toward the edge portion, and this is because the o1 the back and under ilap are held very close to each other.

Both the lining Y and the outer member Z are continuous strips of material Whi ch extend the full length of the holder and the outer member and the serve as means to flexibly connect at tu the top portion to the body portion and at e the bottom portion to the body portion. The Vlining' and the receptacle M are preferably formed of some 'fancy fabric, while the outer portion of the holder is preferably formed from a strip ot leather. ln the form shown in Figs. l to 5 the inner i'laps may be formed oi' the same material as the lining, While in the form yshoivn inlligs. 6 to 9 it is preferable to 'foi-inthe inner `flaps of the same malining y terial as the outer portion of the holder. 2. A necktie holder comprising a main member' having a body portion, an upper VHap portion and an under iiap portion, means for detachably securing the flaps together, a metallic tie supporting loop having a hinged connection to the back and inner flaps for receiving thereunder a portion or' the ties when strung over the supporting loop, said inner flaps being hinged near the longitudinal side edges of a portion of the main member.

3. A neclrtie holder having a continuous strip of material Which provides theV outer portion of a main member comprising a l acli: or body portion, an upper flap and an under flap, the holder also having a still tie supporting loop secured to the upper part of the body portion, a pair of inner ilaps secured to the lower iiap adjacent to the side edges thereof, and means for-catching or detachably securing the side portions of the lower Hap to the side portions oil the body portion.

Ll, A neclrtie holder comprising a back, an upper flap and an under flap, a transversely extending tie supporting bar Which is se- `cured to the upper portion of the back, means for catching or detachably securing the top i'iap in place over and upon the under tlap, means for catching or securing the side portions of the under flap to the side portions of the back, and overlapping inner iaps for receiving thereunder portions of the ties which have been placed on the supporting bar, the upper lflap being provided with an opening for receiving a member upon which the holder may be hung, each of the flaps and also the back being pro vided with a stiliening member that is located betiveen the lining of the holder and a strip that is continuous from the top flap catch for detaehably securing the upper flap to the under flap, the lock or catch member which is on the upper flap having ears that are located one on the outside of the flap l0 and one on the inside of the flap and each ear being provided With an opening for re ceiving a member or hook upon which the holder may be hung.
