Definitions
- ABSTRACT A combination toilet and urinal in which the urinal is formed as an integral part of the flush tank at one end, the back of and/or both ends thereof or in a modified form of the invention on one corner thereof.
- the urinal is provided with a flush valve using a portion of the water from the flush tank and has a separate drain to the sewage outlet portion of the toilet.
- the present invention relates to combined toilets and urinals for domestic use, and which may be used commercially.
- FIG. 1 is a top plan view of the invention shown partially broken away for convenience of illustration;
- FIG. 2 is a front elevation of the invention shown partially broken away for convenience of illustration
- FIG. 3 is a side elevation of the invention
- FIG. 4 is an enlarged fragmentary vertical sectional view taken along the line 44 of FIG. 2 looking in the direction of the arrows;
- FIG. 5 is an enlarged fragmentary vertical sectional view taken along the line 5-5 of FIG. 3 looking in the direction of the arrows;
- FIG. 6 is a fragmentary top plan view of a modified form of the invention.
- FIG. 7 is a fragmentary front elevation of the structure illustrated in FIG. 6;
- FIG. 8 is a fragmentary side elevation of the structure illustrated in FIG. 6;
- FIG. 9 is a sectional view similar to FIG. 4 of a modified drain system for the structures illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 6.
- a reference numeral 10 indicates generally a combined urinal and toilet unit constructed in accordance with the invention.
- the unit 10 includes a stool 11 having a hopper 12, trap 13, and sewage outlet 14.
- the stool 11 has a flat upper surface 15 for supporting an integral urinal and flush tank generally indicated at 16.
- the integral urinal and flush tank 16 has a tank 17 formed of a bottom wall 18, front wall 19, rear wall 20, connecting end wall 21, and connecting end wall 22.
- a cover 23 closes the open top of the tank 17 as can be seen in FIGS. 1 through 3.
- a urinal 24 is integrally formed with the end wall 22 and extends thereacross and includes a bowl 25.
- a drain conduit 26 is integrally formed in the bottom wall 18 of the tank 17 and extends from a drain opening 27 in the bottom of the bowl 25 to an outlet bore 28 extending through the bottom of the bottom wall 18 intermediate the opposite ends of the tank 17.
- An S-shaped trap 29 is secured in the outlet conduit 28 and extends into the stool 11 opening into the trap 13 thereof overlying the sewage outlet 14.
- a fitting 30 secures the trap 29 to the trap 13 to prevent leakage therebetween.
- a conventional valve seat and connector nipple 31 extends through the bottom wall 18 of the tank 17 and into the stool 11 to provide the flush water for the stool 11.
- a port 32 opens from the tank 17 and commnicates with one or more bores 33 which open into the bowl 25 to flush the urinal 24.
- a valve 34 is biased by a coil spring 35 into a position to seal the port 32 and can be opened by a handle 36 when it is desired to flush the urinal 24.
- the port 32 is adjacent the upper end of the tank 17 so that only a small portion of the water therein will drain through the port 32.
- FIGS. 6 through 8 a modified combined toilet and urinal unit is illustrated at and includes a stool l 1 1 identical to the stool 11.
- a combined urinal and flush tank is indicated generally at 116 and includes a tank 117 having a bottom wall 118, front wall 119, rear wall 120, end wall 122 and a diagonal corner wall 121.
- a cover 123 closes the top of the tank 117.
- a urinal 124 identical to the urinal 24, is formed integrally in the corner wall 121 and has a flush handle 136 extending outwardly therefrom to provide a flush for the urinal 124.
- the connection of the urinal 124 with the sewage and with the water supply is identical to that of the connection of the urinal 24 as illustrated in the preferred form of the invention.
- FIG. 9 a modified drain system is disclosed wherein a conduit 226 is formed in the bottom wall 218 of the tank 217 at the rear portion thereof for cooperation with a stool 211 of slightly different characteristics than the stool 11.
- a trap 229 extends from a bore 228 opening through the bottom of the bottom wall 218 and communicating with the bore 226.
- a fitting 230 seals the trap 229 to the stool 211. It should be understood that the structure illustrated in FIG. 9 may be used with the unit 10 or the unit 110 as desired.
- a combined toilet and urinal comprising a stool having a trap integrally formed therein, a one-piece flush tank and urinal supported on said stool, said flush tank including a plurality of walls and said urinal being integrally formed with one of said walls at one end portion of said flush tank, drainage means connecting said urinal to the trap in said stool for draining said urinal therein, and hand actuated valve means for directing water from said flush tank into said urinal.
- drain means connecting said urinal to said trap in said stool includes a detachable trap member extending between the bottom of said flush tank and said trap.
- a device as claimed in claim 2 wherein the means for directing fluids from said flush tank to said urinal includes a port opening into said flush tank at the upper portion of said urinal, a bore extending into said urinal and communicating with said port and a hand controlled valve for normally closing said port.
