Description

UNITED STATES PATENT GEEICE.
H. K. AVERILL, JR., OF DECORAH, lOlVA.
PHOTOGRAPHIC-PLATE HOLDER Specication forming part of Letters Patent No. 35,206,
To all whom 1125 may concern.-
Be it known that l, H. K. AVEElLL, J r., of Decorah, in the county of lVinneshiek and State of Iowa, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Photographic-Plate Holders; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being' had to the acompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a front view of a plate-holder constructed according to inyinvention. Fig. 2 is a back view of the same. Fig. 3 is a section taken diagonally through opposite corners of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several figures.
This invention consists in the construction of the plate-holder for supporting the sensitized glass or other plate in the camera, to present a series of iine points or edges for the support of the plate, the object being to prevent the collection of the sensitizin g solution on the plate at the lower edge thereof and to protect the plate or picture from stains by contact with the drippings from the plate or other foreign matter that might be present on the plate-holder.
In carrying out my invention I propose to make the entire plate-holder of a single piece the interior of e dated May 13, 136;?.
of porcelain, glass, or oth not be acted upon by which it will hav er material that will the chemicals with e to come in contact. On ach side I construct two or more sharp edged projections, o a, whose edges run from back to front for the support of the edges of the plate, and at the back of each corner l construct supporting-points l) b, which are turned in a forward direction to support the back of the plate.
The manner in which the plateis supported at the edges by the sharp-edged projections c d and at the back by the pointed projections b h is fully illustrated by the representation of the plate in red outline in Figs. l and 3, where it can be seen that there is no place in the plate-holder where any liquid or other matter can accumulate in contact with l the plate.
That I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The plate-holder composed ot' a solid frame provided with points b b and edges a a, substantially as and for the purpose herein specitied.
