UNITE TATES PATENT OFFICE.
DONATO ROSADO, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
CLASP FOR GARMENTS.
\ SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 349.903, dated September 28, 1886.
Application filed February 16, 1886. Serial No. 192,147.
To aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, DONA'IO ROSADO, a citizen of the United States. and. a "esident of New York, in the county and State of New York, certify that I have invented certain Improvements in Clasps for Garments, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates especially to devices employed for clasping or securing garments about the person, and has for its object the provision of a cheap, simple, and effective device, which may be readily applied or removed from the garment wherewith it is employed.
To attain the desired end my invention consists, essentially, in a springwire formed in a double loop, the ends of the wire being pointed and overlapping each other. At the center of the double loop is secured a keeper or clasp, so arranged as to receive either or both the points, all of which will be hereinafter first fully described, and then pointed out in the claim.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a plan view of my device with the points secured in the keeper or clasp. Fig. 2 shows one of the points as released from the keeper. and Fig. 3 shows both points released.
Like letters of reference, wherever they occur, indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
A is a wire forming a double spring-loop, and provided with points a a. At the center of the device is a keeper or clasp, B, firmly secured to the wire.
(No model.)
In use, when it is desired to secure the parts of a garment together, one of the points a is passed through the material and clasped into the keeper. The garment is then drawn around the person, and the other point passed through the opposite side or flap and secured in the same manner. The device may also be used as a suspending-loop by securing one part to the collar of a garment and passing the other loop over the support.
Having now fully described my invention, what I claim as new therein, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
As a new article of manufacture, a garmentclasp consisting of spring-wire A, formed in a double loop, the extremities of said wire being pointed and bent forward toward each other, as set forth, and the center of the wire being provided with a keeper, B, secured thereto, adapted to engage with one or both of the pointed ends, and also adapted to entirely cover said points and to protect articles to which the clasp may be attached from injury therefrom.
In testimony of the foregoing specification I do hereby sign the same, in the city, county, and State of New York, this 8th day of February, A. D. 1886.
DONATO ROSADO.
