PAPER PAIL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 342,177, dated May 18, 1885.
Application filed November 3, 1885. Serial No. 181,764.
1'0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY CARMICHAEL, ofBrunswick, in the county ofCumberland and State of Maine, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Paper Pails; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description ofthe same.
My invention relates to paper pails of that class in which the pail is formed out of paperpnlpin one piece. In pails of that class the upper edge of the pail was heretofore required to be strengthened by the addition of an iron hoop. This is added not only to increase the stiffness of the upper edge of the pail,but also to afford a secure hold for the bail.
The object of my improvement is to dispense with this iron hoop and thus reduce the cost of the pail. To this end my invention consists of a rib or thickened portion upon the upper edge of the pail, on the outside thereof, integral with the material of which the pail is composed.
