ALBERT L. BLANKENMEISTER, OF MARISSA, ILLINOIS.
WATCH-CASE SPRING.
SPECIFICATIGN forming part of Letters Patent No. 337,365, dated March 9, 1886.
Application filed July 16, 1885. Serial No. 17l,788. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ALBERT L. BLANKEN- MEISTER, of Marissa, St. Clair county, State of Illinois, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Lifting-Springs for VVatch-Cases, of which the following is a description. reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, and in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view showing my improvement attached to a watch-case. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the spring removed from the case. Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the collet or block and screw. Fig. 4 is a transverse section taken on line 4 4-, Fig. 1.
My invention relates to aspring that can be applied or secured to any watch-case regardless of the position of the screw-hole, which Varies in watches of different sizes and makes.
My invention consists in features of novelty hereinafter fully described, and pointed out in the claims.
Referring to the drawings, A represents the spring, having a slot, A, in which fits a shank, B, of a collet or block, 0, with a hole or perforation, D, to receive the screw or pin J, which is the ordinary screw or pin for securing the spring to the case. The shank of the colletis preferably dovetailed into the slot of the spring, but may be held in by any other suitablejoint. It is shown dovetailed in Figs. 3 and 4.
If a screw is used, the hole D would be threaded, and if a pin is used, it would be left smooth, of course. It will thus be seen that the collet can he slid back and forth to accommodate the location of the screw-hole, so that my improved spring can be used on any watch regardless of the position of the screw-hole.
I claim as my invention-- l. The combination of the slotted spring, collet and screw or pin, arranged and operating substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
2. The combination of the slotted spring, collet having a shank dovetailed into the slot in the spring, and having a hole or perforation, D. and screw or pin J, all arranged and operating substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
ALBERT L. BLANKENMEISTER.
In presence of- DANIEL ZZHLSDORF, PETER B. HAMILTON.
