UPECIPICATION forming part of Letters Patent. No. 335,300, dated February 2, 1886.
Application filed May 12, 19195. Serial No. 165,164. (No modcLl To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, MosEs OYENU and WOLF FnEINKELsTEIN, both subjects of the Emperor of Russia, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Head-Coverings and Mufllers, of which the following is aspecification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
Our invention relates to an improved headcovering and mntller.
The object of the invention is to obtain a device which in cold weather will thoroughly protect the head, the throat, and the lower part of the face, at the same time arranging for perfect breathing facilities for the wearer.
To the accomplishment of the above the invention consists of a head-covering formed with extensions arranged to surround the throat, and, further, in providing one of such extensions with an opening arranged to come in line with the mouth of the wearer, and thus provide perfect breathing facilities.
Reference will be made to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is ar View of the device, and Fig. 2 a view showing its application.
Like letters refer to like parts in each view. lhe article may be formed of any suitable material, and consists of a headcoveriug, A, and two extensions, 15 3'. 'lheheadeovering may be of any suitable shape, and may be ornamented, if desired. '0 prefer to have covering A of such a size that it will fit over the head when a cap is worn, although this is not absolutely necessary. The parts 13 B are of suflioient length to pass around the threat a suitable number of times and be tied, as shown in Fig. 2. Part B is adapted to pass over the nose and mouth; and to enable the wearer to breathe freely we provide an opening, C, so arranged that when the part B is drawn over the month said opening will be in a line therewith.
\\e are aware that it is not new to provide a head-covering with extensions adapted to be wound around the neck, and also that it is not new to form a head-covering with an extension to cover the entire head and face, and
eye openings, and therefore we do not claim either feature, broadly; but
\Vha-t we claim is The combination, with a head-covering, A, of extensions B B, the former provided with mouth-opening O, as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof we altix our signaturcs in presence of two witnesses.
MOSES OV GNU. WOLF FRElNRELSTEIN.
