Description

(No Model.) 4
- W. B. DAGER.
' SASH PASTENER.
No. 327,144, Patented Sept. 29, 1885.
WITNESSES: I INVENTOR g @m 7 0Q 7ZflMZ z? BY lINiTED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
\VILLIAH B. DAGER, OF CANTON, OHIO, ASSIGNOR OF TlVO-THIRDS TO JAMES LEONARD AND CHARLES A. LEONARD, OF SAME PLACE.
SASH-FASTENER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 327,144, dated September 29, 1885.
Applicalion filed September 20, 1884. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern;
Be it known that I, WVILLIAM B. DAGER, a citizen of the United'States, residing at Canton, in the county of Stark and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sash-Fasteners; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, in which- Figure 1 is a longitudinal section of a window-frame, showing the position of fastener. Fig. 2 is a section showing the bar or rod attached to the edge of the windowsash. Fig. 3 is a section of window-casing, showing retaining-clamp placed in proper position. Fig. 1 is a detached view of the retaining-clamp.
The present invention has relation to that class of window or sash fasteners designed to hold the window either up or down or at any desired point,-and securely lock the window in any position desired; and its nature consists in providing a rod or bar and a retainingclampmnd in the several parts and combination of parts hereinafter described, and pointed out in the claim.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding partsin all the figures in the drawlngs.
In the accompanying drawings, A represents the rod or'bar, which is substantially of the form shown in Fig. 1, and is attached to the lower sash on the side, as seen in said Fig. 1. The rod or bar A for the upper sash is attached to the parting-bar B, as seen in Fig. 1. The rods or bars A are held a short distance from the parts to which they are attached by means of the small blocks a, one of said blocks being placed at each end of the retaining-clamp C is provided with the recess.
D, which receives the rod or bar A, as seen in Fig. 1. Said retaining-clamp is also provided with the thumbscrew E, which is located in said retainingclamp C, and is of the form shown in the drawings.
In case the rod or bar A is placed on the edge of the sash, as shown in Fig. 2, it is T- shaped, and the casing grooved to receive said rod or bar, as seen in Fig. 3. The retaining clamp C is located in the casing, as shown in Fig. 3, and the thumb -screw E passed through the casing, as shown in said Fig. 8. If desired, the rods or bars A may be placed 011 opposite sides of the windowsash.
In use the window is placed in the position desired, when it is securely held by turning the thumb-screw firmly against the rod or bar A, thereby firmly locking the window.
Having now fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to'secure by Letters Patent, is
The combination of the retainingclamp C, provided with the-thumb-screw E and the recess D, of the bars or rodsA and the blocks a, substantially as described, and for the pun pose set forth.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM B. DAGER.
Vituesses 7 CHARLES A. LEONARD, Janus LEONARD.
