MITTBN. v No. 312,653. Patented Feb-Z4, 1885.

UNITED STATES PATENT ()FFICE.
ABRAHAM PERLINSKY, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
MITTEN.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 312,653, dated February 24, 1885.
Application filed January 8, 1885. (No model.)
mittens used in husking corn, or by miners,
bricklayers, &c., with a suitable attachment whereby the work maybe accomplished with accuracy and promptness; and to the accomplishment of that end the invention consists in-the novel construction of the mitten, as here inafter described and claimed.
Reference is made to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a view of the mitten complete, and Fig. 2 a section of a portion thereof.
Like letters refer to like parts in both views. The body of the mitten A may be formed of any suitable material, such as cloth, leather, 82c.
To the outer end of the mitten, and uponthe palm thereof, I secure in any suitable manner a piece, 0, of leather or some other durable material. Before securing this strip 0 to the mitten I pass through it a suitable number of pins, D, of sufficientlength to protrude asuitable distance above the strip, and having heads a, which serve to hold them in place, such heads occupying the space between the strip 0 and the mitten proper. After the pins have been placed in position as described, I pass a disk, I), over the outer end of each, the disks being held in place by suitably riveting them upon the pins. A similar strip, 0, provided with these pins, is secured to the thumb-piece.
By the arrangement of parts described it will be seen that additional strength is obtained where most desired and the mitten rendered less liable to wear than where the pins are passed directly through the body of the Initten; and, further, that by the use of these additional strips, the heads of the pins not being passed through the mitten, the hand is protected therefrom. It will also be understood that should the strips 0 0 become worn they may be removed from the mitten and new ones attached.
What I claim is The combination, with a mitten and strips secured thereto, of pins provided with heads, situated between the mitten and strips, and suitable disks on the pins above the strips, as described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ABRAHAM B. PERLINSKY.
