I POCKET WATCH CLASP.
No. 803,688. Patented Aug. 19, 1884.

POCK ET WATC H -CLAS P.
ZTECIFECATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 303,688, dated August 19, 1884-.
Applicatirn tiled April 18, 18M. (No model.)
To all whom zit may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY F. WILLARD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cambridge, in the county of Middlesex and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Pocket \Vatch-Ola-sp, of which the fol lowing is a specification.
The object of my invention is to make a device which can be secured to the inner wall of a pocket and form a clamp which will em brace the stem of a watch, and thus prevent the same from being removed from the pocket of the wearer, except by a peculiar lateral movement. I attain this object by the meclr anism illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l is an elevation looking from the back, and shows a watch held in the clasp O E E. Fig. 2 is a section of a pocket, showing the watch inclosed. Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the clasp.
In the drawings,H represents the cloth fOlllling the front side of a pocket, A being the watch, K its stem, and B the ring. 0 is a metallic clasp, illustrated in full in Fig. 3. This clasp O has four inturned ends, D D D D,
I which engage with the cloth H, which forms the front of the pocket. These points D D D D are made sharp, and may be readily inserted by puckering the cloth. Then as it (the cloth) stretches smooth theclasp G will be securely fastened. E and E are arms made, as shown, so as to embrace the stern of the watch, and thus hold it in the pocket.
This clasp is preferably fastened to the outer side of the pocket, so that the watch cannot be removed except by pressing inward against the body of the person wearing it. In practice 1 can use a pin and hook for fastening the clasp G to the pocket, instead of the points D D D D.
I claim as my invention- The clasp 0, provided with means, substantially as described, for attaching it to the inner wall of the pocket, in combination with the clasping-arms E 1i, substantially as described, and for the purpose set forth.
HENRY I \VILL ARD.
