H. O. MAXWELL.
HARNESS TRIMMING.
Patented July 22, 1884[ Fig.4.
jnvenim By flit-whey UNITED STATES "PATENT OFFICE.
v HENRY C. MAXWELL, OF ROME, NEWYORK.
HARNESS-TRIMMING.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 302,510, dated July 22, 1884.
' Application filed May 5, 1884. (No model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern Be it known that I, HENRY QMAXWELL, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Rome, in the county of Oneida, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Harness-Trimming, entitled a Harness D, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
My invention relates to improvements in harness-hardware; and it consists of a harnessbreeching or strap-loop in shape of the letter D, provided with arms extending beyond each side of the body of the loop, to increase its bearing and holding surface, and having the i upper part of the loop set outward from the harness, to prevent it from binding against and making a depression in the breast-strap or breeching. The loop is formed with a central projection provided with a hole to receive a tack for holding the work for the stitcher, and to receive a rivet in repairing the harness, or in making strong, substantial work, all as hereinafter fully set forth. 1
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the loop detached. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the loop attached to the breeching. Fig. 3 is a side view of the loop detached. Fig. 4 is a plan view of the same detached. Fig. 5 is a sectional view on line 00 m of Fig. 2.
A designates the body of the loop having formed on its brace-bar the extended arms a a, to give increased bearings on the harness and for the stitches, by which it is held more seourely in place. The body of the loop is bent outward and upward, as shown at I) b, to place the upper portion 0 of the loop outward from the harness, as seen in Figs. 3 and 4 of the drawings, to prevent that portion of the loop or its connecting-strap from making a depression in the breast -strap or the breeching to which the loop may be attached. The middle portion of the basebar has formed on it the projection d, provided with a hole to receive a tack for holding the work for the stitcher, through which hole a rivet may be inserted in repairing or in making strong substantial harness.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The harness breech or strap loop having the extended arms a a, the outward set portion 0, and the perforated projection d, substantially as and for the purposes described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
HENRY C; MAXWELL.
