Description

7 June 23, 1959 p BLATT THIGH MOLDER Filed Jan. 28, 1958 fig-4 INVENTOR. fin/LA 54,477-
United States Patent This invention relates to the general art of womens wearing apparel and, more particularly, is for a thigh molder.
Many women have naturally unusually large thighs; and, with the modern-day close-fitting outer garments, they are confronted with the problem of confining their thighs within certain limits so as to permit the wearing of such modem-day outer garments and to present a neat appearance.
It is therefore the object of my present invention to devise an under-garment that is capable of molding the thighs in such manner as to permit the wearing of the modern-day close-fitting outer garments with neat appearance and with a sensation of comfort and general satisfaction upon the part of the wearer.
Another object is to devise such an under-garment that is of comparatively simple structure and that can be manufactured and sold at a popular price.
Other objects will appear from the following description and claims when considered together with the accompanyirrg drawing.
Fig. 1 is a front view of my present thigh molder illustrating the manner in which it may be worn;
Fig. 2 is a rear view thereof;
Fig. 3 is a side view thereof;
Fig. 4 illustrates the blanks of material from which this garment may be made.
It is to be understood that the present form of disclosure is merely for the purpose of illustration and that there might be devised other modifications without departing from the spirit of my invention as herein set forth and claimed.
My present garment in the main comprises only three parts; namely, two duplicate outer leg parts 1 and 2 and a crotch part 3. The outer parts 1 and 2 are each of blank form of substantially inverted trapezoidal shape with the upper edge of concave curvature and provided at one end with a short vertical edge, these two edges being joined together to form the front seam 4. The one-piece crotch part 3 is of substantially oblong form and is attached to the side edges of the trapezoidal parts 1 and 2 and extends between the same at the rear of the garment at the waist band. A longitudinally elastic band 5 is attached about the top edge of the front part of the garment and is extended in the form of a loop or belt So that is adapted to engage about the rear waist region of the wearers body when the garment is in position of use thereupon. Another longitudinally elastic band 6 is at tached about the side and rear parts of the top edge of the garment and is connected at its ends to the band 5.
When the garment is in position of use upon the body of the wearer, the band portion 5 is adapted to engage beneath her abdomen so as to have uplifting engagement therewith and the band 6 at the rear upper edge of the garment is adapted to have engagement beneath her buttock; while the leg portions of the garment have snug engagement about the thighs of the wearer for the entire horizontal stretch fpr d'diin 2,891,549 l atented June 23, 1959 I I 1" e "starch t s i of "a porous material that ba sman allyh mach 'in any direction a'iicl'th'at is previaed'with a hidden a111- ness Where it joins the parts 1 and 2 so as to'peirnit effectively snug engagement of the leg openings about the thighs of the wearers body. With this combination and arrangement, the inelastic crotch part 3 upon the inner sides of the thighs will serve as an efiective anchoring means for the outer parts 1 and 2 which, by virtue of their predominantly horizontal stretch and snug engagement about the outer sides of the thighs of the wearer, will confine and form her thighs therewithin. At the same time, there will be sufiicient stretch of the parts 1 and 2 to permit easy application of the garment to the body of the wearer in the manner intended.
It is to be understood that a Igirdle may be worn over my present improved garment which is intended only as a means for molding the thighs into most desirable form and which extend down below the bottom edge of the girdle when in position upon the body of the wearer. That is to say, the girdle will be relied upon, as heretofore, as a means of forming the wearers body in the region of her abdomen and buttock While the present garment is intended to contribute the desired appearance of the wearers thighs for the purpose hereinabove stated. With this form and arrangement of thigh molder, which serves as a chafe panty under the girdle, there is afforded a means of instant access for personal use at any time and with marked convenience. The effectiveness of this garment for the above purposes has been established by actual use, as well as its helpfulness in relieving the tired feeling and discomfort incident to varicose veins; and it is believed that the comparative simplicity and popular price of this (garment will recommend it to those who may have need for it and the benefits accruing from the use of the same.
What I claim is:
l. A thigh molder comprising a pair of leg-enclosing members each having an inner part with substantially inelastic material and an outer part of elastic material, said inner parts together forming a crotch-engaging portion, a longitudinally elastic band attached to and extending about the upper edges of said inner and outer parts, and a second longitudinally elastic band attached at spaced points at the front part of said first-named band and adapted to extend about the rear waist region of the wearers body, said first-named band being adapted to extend about the buttock of the wearers body and being free of said second-named band except at the aforesaid points of attachment.
2. A thigh molder comprising a longitudinally elastic band adapted to extend beneath the abdomen and about the rear waist region of the wearers body, a second longitudinally elastic band attached at spaced points to the front part of said first-named band and adapted to extend beneath the buttock of the wearers body, outer thighengaging portions of elastic material attached to and depending from the abdomen-engaging part of said firstnamed elastic band and from said second-named band except at the rear thereof, and a crotch part of substantially inelastic material attached to said thigh-engaging parts and to the rear part of said second-named elastic hand between said thigh-engaging portions, said secondnamed band being free of said first-named band except at the aforesaid points of attachment.
3. A thigh molder comprising a pair of leg-enclosing members each having an inner part of substantially inelastic material and an outer elastic part, said inner parts being in the form of a single substantially oblong blank and constituting the crotch-engaging portion, said outer parts being of duplicate inverted trapezoidal blank form with concave upper edge in each case, a longitudinally elastic band attached to and extending about the upper edges of said inner and outer parts, and a longitudinally elastic band attached at spaced points to the front part of said first-named band and adapted to extend about the rear waist region of the Wearers body, said bands being free of each other except at the aforesaid points of attachment.
