Toall wub/qm t may concern.-
Be it'known that We, JOHN A. PATTEE and Jos. vB. SOOVELL, citizens of the United States, residing at Lamar, in the county of Barton and State of Missouri, have invented certain' new and useful Improvements in Spectacle- Cases and Pencil-Holders, of which theI following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
1oj Our invention relates to certain new and usefull improvements in spectacle-cases, or
i withinthe pocket of garment.
gage with the inner faces of the slotted strip more particularly to attachments for thesame, and means for retaining said vspectacle-case l The object of our improvement is to provide a sure and safe means for holding a spec tacle-case within the pocket ofa garment, so. that a Ip ersnnlwearing, thesamewh enasteepin g down, will not lose the spectaclelcase out of L the pocket. Anotherv object is to provide for the safe retention of a pair` of eyeglasses to the outside of the spectacle-ease, and also be abl'e tocarry a pencil within 'a holder outside of said casewithout in any way interfer ing with the use of the ease.- We attain these objects'by means of the peculiar arrangement I and construction ofthe various parts, that will be more fully pointed out and described in the speciiication and claims.
Reference being had to the drawings, Figure l is a perspective view of our invention, showing the pencil-case, hook, and spectacle-case. Fig. 2 is a plan viewr of the same, showing slotted strip attached to case. Fig. 3 is a detail view, showingpencil-loop, hook, and transverse engaging-hooks. i T
Similar letters refer to similar parts throughout the drawings.
Referring lto the drawings, A represents a spectacle-case of the usual form of construction, having an open end, into which spectacles are introduced.- On the front of the case is secured a longitudinal metal strip, a, formed with a slot, f, nearly its entire length.
A curved loop, C, has transverse projecting iianges c c on its inner surface-to ena, and by means of which it is held to the desired position 011 the spectacle-case, as shown 1n Fig. l.
-Loop C is formedl ofua single pieee'fol-dd back, so that its open ends 'pass each other in the form of a lap, and ashort distance .inward from each end the inner 'face of one `a`iid the' outerlface ofthe opposite end rare punchedV or g, is formed, through which the shank end fi of hook D passes, said hook being loosely held in place by means of side projections, l h, said .projections being of -suiiicient width to'reach the inner i'aee of end e and pressit againsttiie, outside ofthe pocket. Thehbok D is formed to receive and hold a pair of speetaelesor eyeglasses.- v A 1 Swiveled or pivoted to the loop C, above the hook D, is the' pencil-holder B, cut from a sin- .gle piece of metal', with upwardly-turned sides and tapering points formed to .grasp and hold a pencil, b, or pen.
The use and operation of? the device is obvious-and needs no description.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim, and desire to secure by Letterslat l. A spectacle-ease provided with an attach:
ment for. holding said ease securely inthe pocket of a garment, said attachmentbeing provided with a hook for holding s ectacles and a pivoted clamp forholding'a pe cil, sub-v stantially as shown and described.
2. The combination of the spectacle-case A, having the longitudinal slotted metal stripa secured to its outer front surface, with the loop C, having ear projections c c, projections al, s lot g, hook D, .aud'pencilholder B, slib-- stantially as shown and specided.
In testimony whereof we affix our` signatures -in presence of two witnesses`.-'
