NITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
AUGUSTA NETZNER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
SUSPENDER-END.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 285,650, dated September 25, 1883.
Application ined Aprn a, 1883. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern,.-
Be it known that I, AUGUSTA NETZNER, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Suspender-End, of which the following is a full, clear, and eX- act description.
The invention consists in a cord attached to each strap of a suspender-end at the upper part of the loop formed on the lower part of each strap, which cord has its upper end secured to the piece uniting the upper ends of the straps. The inner edges of strands forming the straps are united with each other and with the cord between them at about the middle of the length of the same.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this speciiication, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both gures.
Figurel is a face view of my improved suspender-ends, and Fig. 2 is a face view of a modification of the same.
The two suspenderend straps A are attached at their upper ends to a piece of leather or fabric, B, through which a ring, C, is passed, in the usual manner. A loop, D, is formed at the lower end of each suspender-end strap A by crossing the band a of which the suspenderend strap is formed. The crossed parts of the band a are held together by a small ring, E, through whichwthe crossed parts o the band are passed, or by a cord, F, of silk, cotton, wool, worsted, either plain or twisted, which is attached to the band a at the crossed part forming the loop, and to the leather piece B, the' cord F being located between the two strands formed by the band a. `Preferably the inner edges of the strands are united at the middle, and are also united to the cord F at about the middle of the length of the same.
If the ring E is provided, the lower end of the cord F is attached to the said ring, as shown in Fig. 2. The cord Fprevents undue stretching of the suspender-ends, and also gives the same a better appearance, and strengthens the same and holds the crossed part of the straps together in the construction shown in Fig. l. The cord can be made of any suitable material `and in any suitable manner.
The suspender-ends A canbe made of leather, fabric, braided cords, webbing, or any other suitable material. The cords F can have the same color as the suspender-ends, or a different color, as may be desired.
If desired, the cord F can be dispensed with in the construction shown in Fig. 2; but the strands a forming the straps A are to be united strap, substantially as herein shown and dei scribed, and for the purpose set forth.
2. In a suspender-end, the combination, with the band a, forming a loop, D, the ring E, held on the band directly above the loop, and the cord F, having its lower end secured to the ring E and its upper end to the leather piece B, to which the upper ends of the straps are fastened, substantially as herein shown and described, and for the purpose set forth.
AUGUSTA NETZNER.
