Description

B.. VOSBURGH.
`sAsH WEIGHT. No. 276,509.
y Patented Apr. 24,1883.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
REUBEN VOSBURGH, OF OREGON, ILLINOIS.
sAsH-WEIGHT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 276,509, dated pril 24, 1883. Application filed September 23, 1882. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, REUBEN VosBURGH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oregon, Ogle county, Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Sash-Weights, of which the following is a specification. My invention relates to certain improvements in sash-Weights, and particularly to that class known as sectional weights.
My invention has for its object to prevent any axial or rotary movement between adja c'ent Weights, while they are at the same time protected against lateral displacement; and with this end in view my invention consists in ,forming one end ofthe weight with convex elevations concentric with the rope-channel, and one or more radial or intersecting concave depressions, and the opposite end with circular concave depressions and radial or intersecting convex projections adapted to interlock with the end of an adjacent section, as ewill be hereinafter explained.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective View of a section embodying my invention; Fig. 2, -a central vertical section taken at the line a: a: ot' Fig. l; Fig. 3, a similar section ot' three weights strung upon a suspension-cord; Fig". 4, a plan view of the top or upper end ot' a section, and Fig. 5 a plan View of the opposite end.
Similar letters denote like parts in the several figures.
A represents a cast-iron sectional weight having a central cord-channel, B, tapering suspension-cord, G, the projections and corresponding depressions, C E, and radial depres` sions and projections D F will interlock, respectively, and prevent Ilot only lateral movement of the sections relative to each other, but will also prevent any independent rotary movement.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
Asectional weight, A, having one end formed with circular projections C and radial or in, tersecting depressions D, and its opposite end with corresponding'ci rcular depressions, E, and intersecting or radial projections F, whereby lateral and axial movement is prevented, substantially as set-forth.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
REUBEN VOSBJURGH.
