TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, JOHN FRYLING, of Fletcher, in the county of Miami, and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful improvement in Stream Fences; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear,
| and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, referenc; being had -to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view.
I construct my stream fence by taking two sills, each long enough to extend across the stream proposed to be fenced, as represented by letters a a, b b in the drawing, and bury them in the earth to a level with the bottom of the stream. I then take curved or crooked pieces of timber (the number to be determined by thewidth of the stream) and fasten one end underneath the sill farthest down the stream, bringing the other over the top of the other sill and bury the points or ends (which are provided with cross-timbcrscc) suflioiently deep to prevent the fence from being washed or forced out, (see letters d (1, fig. 1.) I then take slats, poles, or any suitable pieces of timber, e e e e e, of suitable length and place them over the top of the sill lowest down the stream, passing one end under the sill farthest up the stream. These slats should be close enough together to prevent-the egress or ingress of any kind of stock, and should be fastened to the sill farthest down the stream. In narrow streams, where one piece of timber will reach across, the curved timbers or anchors-may be dispensed with by building abutments on each end of the sills.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The two sills, the curved timbers or anchors, and the slats, as set forth in the drawings and specifications.
JOHN FRYLING.
