. UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ROBERT S. GOULD, OF EAST ORANGE, NEW JERSEY.
EXTENSION-BRACKET FOR CURTAlN-POLES.
SPEGIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 275,481, dated April 10, 1883. Application tiled December 13, 1682. (No model.)
' extensible bracket for curtain-poles, that can be readily adjusted as required to the shape and configuration of the wall, molding, or other points of support; and the invention consists of an extensible bracket for curtain-poles, composed of a horizontal and inclined leg carrying a semicircular portion, and being provided with independently-adjustable extension-pieces and with means for guiding and clamping said pieces on the legs of the bracket. 7
In the accom'panyin g drawings, Figure 1 represents a perspective view of my improved extensible bracket for curtain-poles, and Fig.
2 is a side elevation of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A represents the upper horizontal leg of my improved bracket for curtain-poles, and B the inclined downwardly-extending leg, which is riveted to the outer semicircular portion, 0, of the upper leg, A, the semicircular portion serving to support and retain the curtain-pole in connection with a set-screw, D, as shown clearly in Figs. 1 and 2. The legs A and B are provided with extension-pieces A B, that are guided along the legs A and B by means of U-shaped guide-pieces a and b. The guidepiece a is arranged at the inner end of the extension-piece A, and the guide-piece b at the lower end of the inclined leg B. The extension-pieces A and B are first set into the required position on the legs A and B, and are then fastened thereto by means of clampingscrews to b, which take into holes of the extension-piece A and the inclined legs B, respectively. The outer end of the extensionpiece A is bent upward, and that of the extension-piece B downward, both ends being provided with holes for thefastening-screws, by which the bracket is attached to the wall, window-casing, or other suitable pointof support. By means of the independently-adj ustable extension-pieces the bracket may be adjusted to any position required and the cur-t tain-pole supported at any desired distance from the wall, the bracket being thereby adapted to varying circumstances and applications.
Having thus described myinvention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- An extensible bracket for curtain-poles, consisting of a horizontal leg, A, inclined leg B, semicircular pole-carrying portion 0, extension-pieces A B, and means for guiding and clamping the extension-pieces A and B on the legs A and B, respectively, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ROBT. S. GOULD.
