R.;MAL'IN. CURTAIN FIXTURE. No. 507,443. Patented 001;. 24, 1893.
v7 6 E c v7 M v7 L/7 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
REBEGOA MALIN, OF PORTLAND, INDIANA.
CURTAIN-FIXTURE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 507,443, dated October 24, 1893.
Application filed February 7, 1893. Serial No. 461,374. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, REBECOA MALIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Portland, in the county of Jay and State of Indiana, haveinvented certain newand usefulImprovements in Curtain-Fixtures; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
My invention relates to improvements in curtain fixtures, and refers specially to a fixture adapted to take the place and occupy the position of the usual curtain pole, the object of the invention being the provision of a device which will present an attractive and ornam ental appearence which can be easily and quickly applied or removed; which will permit the ready application of a curtain and allow any adjustment or arrangement thereof and which can be producedat a comparatively low price to render the invention practical and useful.
To the above ends the invention consists in a curtain fixture embodying a novel construction, arrangement and combination of parts as will appear from the following description and accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 represents a front elevation of a window casing and my improvement applied thereto in position for use. Fig. 2 represents a top plan view thereof. Fig. 3 represents an end view of the improvement, and Fig. 4 represents a transverse sectional view.
My improvement is adapted to be secured to the top bar or part of the window casing or it may be secured to a bar and be placed on the casing or against the wall and I employ the brackets A which for cheapness I prefer to make of a single piece of metal bent first to form the feet A to receive the fastenings for securing the brackets and then bent to form the arms A and A which provide the seat or recess A in which is supported the bar or rail B, which has the outer face or front suitably ornamented to present an attractive appearance.
On the rear side of the face or front bar is secured the brackets O, in which is placed the strip or bar D, and is thus retained close against the front bar and between the two bars is passed the curtain E, and the curtain fits snugly in. the space between the bars and is held at any desired adjustment by reason of the friction or contact of the bars with the curtain.
The curtain or the entire fixture can be readily and quickly removed or applied and the curtain can be adjusted by simplydrawing upon the ends thereof.
It is evident that I provide a simple, durable and inexpensive fixture which presents an attractive and ornamental appearance and which is eflicient and practical.
I claim as my invention The herein described curtain fixture, consisting of the brackets made each of a single piece of metal having the vertical feet, the
horizontal parallel arms, and the parallel vertical arms forming an angular seat, the rectangular face bar mounted between the vertical arms, the brackets on the rear of the face bar, the flat or rectangular clamping bar. in said brackets concealed by said face bar and the curtain held between the inner fiat surfaces of said bars.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
V REBEOOA MALIN. Witnesses:
