1 Claim. (Cl. 2-224) This invention relates to the general class of womens wearing apparel and is for an improved panty belt.

More specifically, the object of my present invention is to devise a panty belt with a swing-crotch portion that may be readily swung to one side for personal use.

A further object of my present invention is to devise such a panty belt that is of comparatively simple construction and may be marketed at a popular price and yet may be depended upon to perform its intended function in an efiicient manner.

Other objects will appear from the following description and claim when considered together wtih the accompanying drawing.

Fig. 1 is a rear perspective view of my present form of invention;

Fig. 2 is a front perspective view of the same;

Fig. 3 is a view of the blank from which the front section of the present device is formed;

Fig. 4 is a view of the blank corresponding to the rear section of the same; and

Fig. 5 is a view of the blank corresponding to the crotch portion.

It is to be understood that the present disclosure is merely for the purpose of illustration and that there might be devised various modifications thereof without departing from the spirit of my invention as herein set forth and claimed.

Referring now to the accompanying drawing in detail, the front section 1 may be made of a material that is elastic in only the horizontal direction, as for instance a material known as plisse, and may be of suitable proportions to cover the entire abdominal region of the body of the wearer. This front section may be formed as a blank of the shape indicated in Fig. 3 of the accompanying drawing and is of tapering decreasing width towards the top thereof, as indicated by reference numeral 1a, and also towards the bottom thereof, as indicated by reference numeral 1b, attention being called to Fig. 3 of the present drawing.

The rear section 2 may be made of heavier material than the front section 1 and may be elastic in only the horizontal direction, this rear section being of a substantially trapezoidal shape with its larger dimension at the top thereof, as indicated in the present drawing. The section 2 is of substantially less height than the front section and its vertical extent may correspond with the upward tapering portion 1a of the front section 1.

The upper edge portions of the front and rear sections 1 and 2 are adapted to fit snugly about the waist of the wearer and this waist portion of the garment may be gathered with elastic tape so as to be self-accommodating about the wearers waist, as indicated by reference numerals 1d and 2d.

The upper and lower edges of the sections 1 and 2 extend in horizontal directions and are parallel with each other, the lower edge of the front section being substantially lower and of less extent than the lower edge of the rear section.

2,722,012 Patented Nov. 1, 1955 Attached to the lower edges of the front and rear sections 1 and 2 is the swing-crotch section 3 that is elastic only longitudinally thereof, that is along the extent between its front and rear points of attachment, the swingcrotch blank being illustrated in Fig. 5 of the drawing. This swing-crotch section 3 may have its side edges curved inwardly to the proper extent to provide suitable width and form for its intended use and gathered each along a longitudinally elastic tape, as at 3b, so as to provide snug fit and reserve elasticity during actual use. Also, the lower edges 1b of the front section 1 are each gathered along a longitudinally elastic tape for the sake of snug engagement with the legs of the wearer. It is to be noted that the most narrow part of the section 3 corresponds to the lower part of the crotch of the body of the wearer and that this swing-crotch section widens out from its middle part toward each end thereof and substantially more so towards its rear end.

With this structure and arrangement of parts, it will be seen that the swing-crotch portion 3 is of substantially wider extent at its rear end so as to normally cover the necessary portion of the buttock of the wearer and yet may be stretched and swung out of the way to one side temporarily whenever desired for personal use. Then, upon release of the swing-crotch section 3, it may be readily returned to its original position where it will be retained by its elasticity. The section 3 may be made of suitably light weight material and of suitable smoothness and softness for comfort. The forwardly and downwardly inclined edges 10 of the front section 1, to which are connected the correspondingly inclined edges 3a of the bottom or swing-crotch section 3, contribute to the comparatively great width of the rear end of the swing-crotch section 3.

The rear section 2, of heavier or firmer material with less yield than the section 1, will afford the necesasry supporting means in the region of the sacroiliac joint while the front section of lighter material affords a sensation of comfort as well as security in the abdominal region of the body of the wearer; while the front and rear sections 1 and 2 together afford an eflicient as well as comfortable means of support for the swing-crotch section 3 which may be manipulated in the convenient and eificient manner above described and without disturbing its points of attachment at the front and rear ends thereof. The blanks for the front section 1 and the swing-crotch section 3 are so formed that, when put together in the finished garment as indicated herein, they will provide suitable openings 4 for the legs of the wearer, as may be understood from Figs. 1 and 2 of the present drawing.

This garment, as herein shown and described, consists of only three parts and is therefore of simple construction and may be made and sold at a popular price. Also, it is capable of being worn with a sensation of security and comfort and may be manipulated in a convenient and efficient manner for personal use whenever desired.

While the practical advantages of my present invention may be enjoyed by women in general, they will be particularly appreciated by expectant mothers for whom this garment has been especially devised.

What I claim is:

A swing crotch panty bent comprising a main blank of elastic material that has upper and lower parallel horizontal edges, the upper edge thereof being of substantially greater extent that the lower edge thereof, said blank having side edges of outwardly converging form, said main blank serving to provide the rear and sides of the garment with the upper edge thereof adapted to extend about the rear and side waist region of the wearers body, a rear blank part of inverted trapezoidal form connected at its two ends to the converging side edges of said main blank, and a crotch blank part of elastic material having one end portion of greater width attached to the lower edge of said rear blank part and to the side edges of said main blank and having its other end portion of less width attached to the lower front horizontal edge of said main blank, said main blank being adapted to cover the abdominal and hip region of the wearers body, said rear blank part being adapted to cover the sacroiliac region of her body, and said crotch blank part being adapted to cover a portion of the wearers buttock and to permit stretching and swinging of the same to one side for personal use, said panty belt being of permanently closed form and of greater height at the front than at the rear thereof.
