Description

(N0 Model.)
J. B. WOOLSEY.
TRACE BUCKLE.
No. 270,534. Patented Ja.11.9,1883.
STATES PATENT Finca.
TRACE-BUCKLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 270,534, dated January 9, 1883. Application led May 20,*1882. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOHN B. WooLsEY, of Bloomeld, inthe county of Davis, and in the State ot' Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Trace-Tug Buckles; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specilioation.
Ihis invention has for its objectsfto provide certain improved coupling devices, whereby the name and trace-ings may -be conveniently and securely fastened togethelyas more fully hereinafter specified. lThese objects I accomplish by the means illustrated inthe accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l represents aperspective view, showing my invention; and Fig. 2 represents a lon gitudinal sectional view, showing my improved coupling devices.
The letter A indicates the trace-strap, which is provided with aloop, B, at one end, as indi cated in the drawings.
The letter O indicates a metallic frame, which embraces the looped portion of the tracestrap, as shown, and which is secured thereto by means of' a transverse screw, D, passing through the looped portion ofthe strap. The said frame is provided, about midway between its connecting-points with the trace-strap and its lower edge, with a transverse bar, E, which is provided with a lug or tongue, F, adapted -to engage one of a series of apertures in the haine-tug G, the lower bar of the frame being provided with a tongue or lug, H, which is also designed to engage one of the apertures just above mentioned, and operate in counection with the tongue or lug F, to secure the tug and trace strap together.
The letter I indicates au adjustable metallic frame or clasp, which embraces the adjoining parts of the trace and tug straps, and holds them together in connection with the coupling devices before mentioned. The frame or clasp is provided with a thumb-screw, K, at one side, by means of which it can be tightened upon the straps in order to hold the contiguous parts properly. The frame O may also be tightened laterally by means of thescrew-bolt, when desired.
The letter I indicatesa metallic strap, which secures the end ofthe tug-strap to the trace.
Having thus described my inventiomwhat I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s-
- The combination, with the trace strap looped at one end, of the frame secured thereto by a transverse screw-bolt, and provided with a transverse bar, the said bar and lower side of the kframe being provided with lugs or tongues adapted to engage apertures in the tug-strap, and the adjustable frame or clasp and its binding-screw, substantially as specilied.
In testimony whereof Iaftix my signature, 'in presence of two witnesses, this 29th day of April, 1882.
J. B. WOOLSEY.
