BUCKLE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 266,125, dated October 17, 1882.

Application filed September 5, 1882.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WM. A. FISHER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvementsin Buckles; and Ido hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form partof this specification, in which- Figure 1 shows afront view of buckle. Fig. 2 shows a modification of style of making the buckle.

My invention has relation to buckles of that class used on gentlemens clothing and underwear. By the present method of making these buckles they must be permanently attached by sewing to the garment on which they are to be worn, and it takes considerable time to attach and to remove them. When used on articles that require to be frequently washed it is necessary that they should be removed every time the article is to be Washed, or else, by reason of the buckles being made of metal, they will rust, and not alone stain, but also rot and destroy, the articles to which they are attached.

My improvement consists in the construction hereinafter described, whereby buckles can be attached to and removed from garments very quickly.

In this form I first make the buckle A, and afterward join to it the pin a by soldering or other suitable meth- 4o ods. In both cases the buckle is provided with a pin, whereby it can be readily attached to the garment on which it is to be wormand as readily detached whenever the garment is to be washed, rendering such detachment or re- 4 5 moval desirable.

The cost of manufacturing buckles of my improved style Will be Very little, if any, more expensive than those of the old shape, while the saving of time in putting them on the gar- 5o ments will be very great, and thus will be of considerable benefit to the manufacturer.

To attach one of my improved buckles to a garment, I loosen the point of the pin a from the catch or guard b, pass the pin through the 55 portion of the article to which I wish to fasten the buckle, and return the point of the pin to the catch or guard b.

What I claim as my invention islhe combination of the buckle A and pin a 60 with catch or'guard b, substantially as shown and described.
