SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 265,913, dated October 10, 1882.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, QHARLES S. BARNARD, ofthe city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Drawer- 5 Handle, of which the following is a specifica= tion.

The object of my invention is to provide a new and improved drawer-handle which is simple in construction and is durable and r cheap.

The invention consists of a spun or sheet metal cap for receiving the ends of the ring or pull, into which cap a stem or pin is placed, and is secured therein by'pouring molten metal into the cap.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a horizontal sectional view of my improved drawer-handle, and Fig. 2 is a detail elevation of the stem of the same.

Acap,(),is stamped orspunoutofsheetmetal and forms the body of the handle. A longitudinally-slotted plate, I), provided with shoulders E E near the middle of the outer edges,

and provided with an internally-threaded collar, I to receive the screw G, forms the stem of the ring-handle. The slotted plate or stem D is passed through the aperture in the face- 0 plate H of the handle, which aperture is of such a size that the lower end of the plate up to the shoulders E E can pass thronghit; but the shoulders will rest upon this plate H. The lower end of the plate or stem Dis then placed 5 in the cap 0, the plate H resting upon the edge or rim of the cap, upon which molten metal'J is poured through the aperture in the plate H into the cap 0 until the same is filled, whereby the cap 0 and the plates D and H 40 are united. The plate H can rotate in the stem, but cannot be drawn out on account of the shoulders E. The stem is passed into an aperture, K, in the piece of furniture, and is secured by means of a washer-plate, L, and the screw G. Two holes are bored into the cap 0 and the filling metal in opposite sides to receive the gudgeons B B of the ring A, which is held to the cap by the spring of the metal of the ring A. Threaded pins or screws may be attached to the cap 0, in the manner de- 0 scribed, in place of the slotted plate D. Any other kind of pull may be attached to the cap 0.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. In drawer-handles, the combination, with a sheet-metal cap, of the filling; metalJ in this cap, the ring A, and the stem D, substantially as herein shown and described, and for the pure pose set forth.

2. In drawer-handles, the combination, with the slotted stem 1) and the apertured plate H, of the filling metal J, the ring A,and the sheet-metal cap (J, substantially as herein shown and described.

3. ln drawer-handles, the slotted stem 1), constructed, substantially as herein shown and described, with an internally-screw-threaded collar, F, and a shoulder or shoulders, E 13,011 the outer edges, as set forth.

4. In drawer-handles,thc combination, with 0 the sheet-metal cap (3, of the handle A, the stem D, the molten metal J, the screw G, and the washer-plate L, and the facing-plate H, substantially as herein shown and described, and for the purpose set forth.
