ACROBATIC TOY SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 255,626, dated March 28, 1882. Application filed October 12, 1881. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOHN M. HoLMEs, a citi- -zen of the United States, residing at Glens Falls, in the county of Warren and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Acrobatic Toys, of which the following is a specificatiomreterence being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
My invention relates to a mechanical toy; and it consists in the construction and arrangement of its several parts,as will he hereinafter more fully set forth.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a "iew showing the toy partly in section, and Fig. 2 is a side view.
A is a hollow handle, which for convenience inputting the actuating device into the toy is divided longitudinally into halves. It is provided with a slot, a, in which operates the actuating-pin, as shown.
B is a rod placed through the handle near its top, and having that portion of it within the handle formed into a crank, b, to which is hinged the actuating-rod, as shown. Upon each end of the rod are firmly secured the puppets 0 O.
D is the actuating-rod. It is hinged to the crank b, extends along the inside of the handle, and is provided with an actuating-pin, d, which operates in the slot at.
The operation of the toy is readily understood. By forcing the pin either up or down the crank I) will he turned, the rod revolved, and the puppets made to perform gymnastic feats on the rod or bar b.
What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A new article of manufacture in toys, consisting of a hollow handle, A, provided with a slot, a, in combination with the bar B,provided with a crank, b, puppets G C, actuating-rod D and its pin (I, operating in the slot a, substantially as and for the purposes specified.
