ing strip having means securing side portions of the-strip'together'in forming thereof a channel for reception of parts of a frame in retaining the frame in the position on the breast pockets. Still more particularly, the invention deals with the use of what might `be called a fastener strip comprising .spaced ,fastener elements `whiclri may .the frame supportingchannels on edge lportions ,of .the breastpocketsof .the garment.
Thenovel features of the invention will be best understood from the following description when taken tcgetherwith the accompanying drawing in which -certain embodiments of the invention are disclosed', and in which theseparate partslare-designated by suitable reference characters in each of the views; and in which:
Fig. 1 is a front View of one breast pocket of a brassire showing one of my improved fastener strips attached thereto.
Fig. 2 is an inside view of the structure shown in Fig. 1, with the strip in completely assembled position.
Fig. 3 is a view similar to Fig. 2, showing the strip partially open and exposing the channel for attachment of the frame.
Fig. 4 is a section on the line 4-4 of Fig. 3; and
Fig. 5 is a plan view of a modified form of strip which I may employ.
In brassires employing supporting frames, it has been the common practice to either permanently attach and mount a frame in connection with the breast pockets of the garment or to provide on the garment means for detachably supporting the frame therewith, and in the latter instance, diculty has been experienced in attaching and detaching the frame, particularly in threading the curved breast encircling loop portions of the frame through the garment parts.
The purpose of my invention is to provide a simple and practical means for providing a quick detachable mounting of the frame with respect to the garment and to employ a more or less standard form of fastener tape to accomplish the desired result with a suitable spacing of fastener rpling engagement of saidtapes.
use. YStill further `rny invention includes the use Iof a special anddistnctly new type of fastener `tape whereinpairs o-f fastener elements are employed .on the .tape .with va definite Vrelationship one with respect to the other in providing cou- .I-Iere itisfto be understood that other types and kinds of fastener .elements canbe employedthan the snapfastener elements. shown.
While my invention is applicable for uselin conjunction with breast covering portions of garments of any type and kind, in illustrating one adaptation and use of my invention I have shown in the accompanying drawing the same applied to a brassire, and in illustration, the showing has been simplified in applying it to one pocket only of a brassire, the pocket is shown at I0 in the drawing andmay be of any desired construction. As shown, a supporting and reinforcing frame i l has its curved breast encircling loop portion t2 disposed at the lower and side portions of the brassire pocket. Attached to this lower and side edge portion is a fastener strip i3, which as seen in Figs. 1 to 4 inclusive, comprises a sideportion i4 secured to the outer face of the pocket lo with the inner side I5 of the strip disposed upon the inner surface of the pocket and having 1ongtudinally spaced stud members I6 of snap fastener elements. The stud members I6 are 2 adapted to engage correspondingly spaced socket members Il secured to the inner surface of the pocket I0 in registering alinement with the stud members I6, as clearly seen in Fig. 3 of the drawing. The fold of the strip I3 is adapted to form a channel I8 longitudinally of the strip as clearly seen in Figs. 3 and 4 for reception of the loop i2 of the frame I I. The free end of the loop l2 has an inturned portion it?I to form a smooth ter-minal end, whereas the inner end portion of the loop I2 joins a companion loop, not shown, in a central bridging portion 2), comprising a spring loop 2l and shoulder portions 22-22. On the loop 2i and shoulder portions 2-22 is disposed a protector sleeve 23 to protect the body from direct contact with the frame intermediate the pockets of the brassire. The upper inner portion of the pocket Il! includes a tie-ribbon or similar coupling 2d for joining adjacent upper portions of the pockets above the bridging portion 20.
In Fig. 5 of the drawing, I have shown a slight modiication in the type of fastener strip employed. Here a strip I3 generally similar to the strip I3 is employed having side portions I4 and I5. To the side portion I5 are attached stud elements on the tape adapting it to the intended 55 parts IS similar to IB of Figs. 1 to 3, and at I'I' are shown socket parts secured to the side portion I4 rather than to the garment. With this construction, the side portion I4 is secured to the inner surface of the pocket, thus the strip i3 will be covered by the lower edge portion of the pocket, and in such uses, can be composed of an inexpensive undecorated material and other means can be employed to trim or nish the edge of the brassire pocket, as Well known in the art.
The type of structure shown in Fig. 5 will lend itself to simplified attachment ofA fastener devices to the pockets in that the two fastener elements, namely the stud I6 and socket Il' can be attached to the one strip in the fabrication of this strip, thus dispensing with the need of alining the fastener l1 on the pocket so as to register with the fastener I6 on thestrip.
With my improved construction, it willbe apparent that a very quick and practical means is provided for attaching and detaching the reingarment, this may be modified and controlled byA the shape of the frame and the positioning of the channel forming fastener strip on the garment.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. 1n garments having breast covering members with curved edges, means comprising a narrow fastener strip bordering said curved edges of each of said members, pairs of inter-engaging fastener elements spaced longitudinally of said strips and the bordering edges of said members, said fastener elements, when coupled, forming of the strips continuous channels longitudinally of said edges, a reinforcing frame having curved parts adapted to bearranged in the channels of said strips, and uncoupling of the fastener elements providing quick opening of the channels for detachment of the frame with respect to the garment.
Cil
2. In garments having breast covering members with curved edges, means comprising a narrow fastener strip bordering said curved edges of each of said members, pairs of inter-engaging fastener elements spaced longitudinally of said strips and the bordering edges of said members, said fastener elements, when coupled, forming of the strips continuous channels longitudinally of said edges, a reinforcing frame having curved parts adapted to be arranged in the channels of said strips, uncoupling of the fastener elements providing quick opening of the channels for detachment of the frame with respect to the garment, and the frameV having a bridge portion joining said curved frame parts at channel ends.
3. A fastener strip of the character described comprising an elongated band having two narrow side portions, said side portions being integrally joined by an intermediate foldable portion arranging surfaces of said side portions adjacent, fastener elements spaced and secured longitudinally of one side portion, other and companion fastener elements spaced and secured longitudinally of the other side portion, and said fastener elements being arrangedon said adjacent surfaces of the side portions to form a channel at the intermediate portion of the band when said elements of both side portions are coupled together.
