Description

H. N. BEAM. Hame-Pastgner.
No. 215,862. PatentedMay 27, 1879.
ATTORNEYS N PETERS. PHOTO-LITHOGRAPHER. WASHINGTON. D C.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HARDIN N. BEAM, OF BEEBE, ARKANSAS.
IMPROVEMENT IN .HAME-FASTENERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 215,862, dated May 27, 1879; application filed April 15, 1879.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HARDIN N. BEAM, of Beebe, in the county of White and in the State of Arkansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Harrie-Fasteners; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a hamefastener, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of my harnefastener, and Fig. 2 is a detached view of the same.
The hame-fastener consists of two metal straps, A and B, which are formed at their outer ends with hooks H for connection with the hames. The strap A is provided with a this link is hung a lever, D, having at one end a pin or tenon, c. The strap B is also provided with a button, F, which projects from the inner side near its inner end, as shown. The two straps being connected to the hames by means of the hooks H, which may then be bent down so as to remain permanently on the hames, are connected together by inserting the tenon c of the lever D in any one of the holes b, and then by means of said lever drawing the two straps together until the button F can be passed through one of the slots a. The hames can in like manner be easily loosened. With this invention the hames can be adjusted to fit any sized horse or mule.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The combination of the strap A, provided with a series of slots, a, and a series of holes, I), the strap B, having the button F, the link 0. and lever B, substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 7th day of April, 1879.
