IMPROVEMENT IN HORSE-COLLAR FASTENINGS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 16 [,736, dated April 6, 1875; application filed February 15, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, VALENTINE M. BEAIVIER, of N oblesville, in the county of Hamilton and in the State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Horse-Gollar Fastening; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction of a fastening for uniting the collar, hames, and strap connecting the neckyoke, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to de scribe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of my invention. Figs. 2 and 3 show the ends of the hames, and Fig. 4 is a bottom view of the horse-collar.
A represents a horse-collar; B B, the hames, and O the strap connecting with the neckyoke D. On the under side of the collar A, at the lower end, is fastened a metal bar, E, from the center of which projects a staple, G. At
the lower end of each hame B is hinged a metal strap, H, provided with a longitudinal slot, a. To the strap 0 is attached an ordinary snap-hook, I,,as shown.
The hames B B are placed on the collar A, and the metal straps H H placed over the staple G, said staple projecting through the slots to therein. The snap-hook I is then fastened in the end of the staple.
The metal bar E, with its staple G, being fastened on the collar, gives strength to the same.
The whole fastening is easily adjusted, cheap, and durable.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination, with a horse-collar, A, haines B B, and neck-yoke strap 0, of the staple G, slotted metal straps H H, and snaphook I, substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 5th day of January, 1875.
VALENTINE M. BEAMER.
