Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFIcTi WILLIAM A. HENSON, OF DYERS STATION, TENNESSEE, ASSIGNOR OF ONE- HALF HIS RIGHT TO JAMES P. SNODDY, OF SAME PLAOE.
IMPROVEMENT IN HAMES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 164,085, dated June 8, 1875; application filed May 5, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM A. Hanson, of Dyers Station, county of Gibson and State of Tennessee, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hames, of which the following is a specification:
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a device for fastening traces to hames, as will be hereinafter more fully" set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, which forms a part of this specification, and in which- Figure l is a perspective view of a hame embodying my invention. Fig. 2 shows my invention in separate parts.
A represents an ordinary wooden hame, on the outer surface of which is fastened a metal plate, B. In this plate is formed, as it were, a longitudinal groove with a series of perforated ears or partitions, a a, across the same, at suitable distances apart, the groove forming recesses b b between said ears or partitions. (J represents a hook, to which the traceis to be connected. The inner end of this hook forms a fork or two perforated projections, d
d, of such size and at such distance apart as to fit over either of the cars a in the recesses b b, on either side thereof. A pin, h, is passed through all the perforated ears to, and through the projections dot the trace-hook 0, thus holding the hook to the plate. By removing the pin it the trace-hook C may be raised or lowered, as required, to properly adjust the trace at any height desired.
This device is simple, cheap, and durable, and may be applied to any ordinary hame not in use, and is not liable to get out of order.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination, with a hame, A, of the plate B, provided with perforated ears or and recesses b, the trace-hook G, having perforated projections d, and the pin h, all substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I hereunto affix my signature this 1st day of May, 1875.
