Description

(No Model.)
0. J. KING. I ATTACHMENT FOR DRIVING LINES 0R RBINS. No. 391,323. Patented Oct. 16, 1888.
WITNESSES: I INVENTOR,
N4 PETERS, FholO-Lilhoy-apher. Washin ton D. C.
NITED STAT-ES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES J. KING, OF WOODSTOWN, NEW JERSEY.
ATTACHMENT FOR DRIVING LINES OR REINS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 391,323, dated October 16, 1888,
Application filed March 17, 1888. Serial No. 267,444.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES J. KING, a citizen of the United States, residing at Woodstown, in the county of Salem and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Attachments for Driving Lines or Reins, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
The object of my invention is to furnish an improvement in driving lines or reins which will do away with the buckle usually employed to connect the double reins and the single rein in a double set of harness, and which will be secure, inexpensive, not liable to catch in a net on the horses or in the other parts of the harness, and which will enable a considerable saving of leather and labor in making the reins.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of part of the double reins and part of the single rein embodying my invention, and Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the clip for connecting the reins.
My device for connecting the reins consists (No model.)
The double line D is secured to the clip as follows: This line is made of one piece, and one end is passed between the top and bottom 6 e, around the bar 0, and then between the top and bottom 0 6 again, as shown in Fig. 1. This line is prevented from slipping by the point or points 01 passing through holes f punched in the line, as shown in Fig. 1.
This device forms an exceedingly secure means for connecting the two lines, and no projections are formed which can be caught in the harness.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. The combination, with the lines D and B, of the clip A, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
2. A clip for connecting the double and single reins of a set of harness, having sides a a, an end, I), a bar, 0, furnished with one or more points, d, and a top and bottom, 6 e, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
CHARLES J. KING.
