This invention relates to hair nets and it has been designed particularly for use for holding the coiifure in perfect condition.
One of the objects of-this invention is to provide a hair net which is self-adjustable to all heads regardless of style of hair dress. Another object is to provide a hair net which can be worn by persons having relatively large or small heads,
and another object is to provide a hair net which a is attractive in appearance when worn and which does not bind but may be worn with comfort. Another object is to provide a hair net having elastics interposed between usual border elastics .whereby to take up any slack in the netting so with these and other objects and advantages in view, this invention. consists in the several novel features hereinafter fully set-forth and claimed.
The invention is clearly illustrated in the drawing accompanying this specification in which:
Pig. 1 is a perspective view of a simple embodiment of the present hair net showing the same in use upon a person's head.
Fig. 2 is a tic view in plan of a fragment of a length of the material from which the hair nets are produced, part of the netting being omitted from the figure.
Fig. 3 is a diagrammatic view in plan of the hair net showing theborder elastic laid out in the form of a circle and the intermediate elastics converging towards both ends of the hair net. Referring to said drawing, the hair net in its simplest form comprises a length of netting 5 of suitable length and breadth, composed of line or coarse mesh such as is used in the ordinary hair net. Interwoven with the meshes of the netting along its two side edges are border elastics 6, and between the border elastics at equidistantly spaced places are other elastics I which are also interwoven with the adjacent meshes of the netting. The two ends of the netting and elastics are gathered and fastened into small tufts or bunches H.
Hair nets embodying the present invention are woven on a net weaving machine and, as the netting is being woven, the border elastics 6 and the intermediate elastics I are interwoven with the adjacent meshes of the netting. The material may be made of indefinite length and thereafter cut into individual hair nets. To form the individinl hair nets, the material is gathered in a I! crosswisedirection, as indicated by the arrows that it adapts itself to the shape of the head and 8 in Fig. 2 at suitably spaced places to determine the size of the hair nets and, while the material 4 is in its gathered condition at said places,it is stitched crosswise along the lines indicated by the arrows, after which the material is severed 6 along the lines 9 into individual nets. The end portions between the stitches l0 (see 3) and. the extremities of the individual hair nets form the small tufts or bunches I I over which may be I secured an ornamental object as seen ;at l2 in Fig. 1. With the elastics interwoven with the netting along its entire length, when placed on the head of the user, the elastics stretch more or less, thereby permitting the net to adjust itself so as to conform to the coifiure and may be worn with comfort. Moreover, with the use of several elastics interposed between the border elastics and converging towards the ends of the net, a very pleasing and attractive appearance is obtained when worn upon the head.
I claim as new and desire to secure .by Letters Patent: 7
1. A hair net comprising a length of netting having border elastics disposed along its side edges and a plurality of other elastics extending lengthwise of the netting and disposed-between the border elastics, all of said elastics being interwoven with the netting and the two ends of the net being gathered and fastened into tufts.
2. A hair net comprising a length of vnetting having border elastics disposed along its side edges and a plurality of other elastics extending lengthwise of the netting and disposed between the border elastics, all of said elastics being interwoven with the netting and 'the two ends of the netting and elastics being gathered and stitched along lines adjacent the extremities of the net.
3. A hair net comprising a length of netting having border elastics disposed along the side edges thereof and a plurality of other elastics extending lengthwise of the netting and disposed between the border elastics, all of said elastics being tightly interwoven with the netting and the ends of the netting and elastics being gathered into bunches and stitched along lines adjacent the end extremities of the net.
4. A hair net comprising a length of netting having border elastics disposed along the side edges thereof and a plurality of other elastics disposed between the border elastics, all of said 60 elastics being interwoven with the netting and all of the elastics converging towards each end of the net and being fastened with the netting at the ends thereof.
