SANITARY HAIR COVER Filed Oct. 24, 1956 Patented July's, 1937 I ururtzo STATES PATENT, OFFICE Judith Gordon, Brooklyn, N. Y. I Application October 24, 1936, Serial No. 101,440
3 Claims.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in a sanitary hair cover.
The invention has for an object the construction of a hair cover which is formed from a 'sheet 5 of material and which may be readily and conveniently engaged upon ones head.
Specifically, the invention proposes to protect the hair while the face is exposed so that creams may be applied to the face without soiling the 10 hair, also to protect the hair from the sun and during cleaning ofthe home.
15. Another one of the objects is the provision of pliable elements arranged upon the hair cover in a manner so that it is capable of holding the hair cover at various sizes to fit the heads of difierent people. V
. Another one of the objects of'this invention is the provision of an eyeletadapted to coact with said pliable means for holding the top portion of the hair cover in position.
Still further the invention proposes the construction of an article as mentioned which is simple and durable and which may be manufactured and sold at reasonable cost.
For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.
In the accompanying drawing forming a mate- 35 rial part of this disclosure:-
Fig. 1 is an elevational viewof a sanitary hair cover constructed according to this invention; Fig. 2 is a pictorial view of the hair cover partially applied on a wearer.
Fig. 3 .is a rear view of Fig. 2.
Fig. 4 is a fragmentary horizontal sectional view taken on 'the'line 44 of Fig. 3.
Fig. 5 is a fragmentary perspective view of the left hand end of Fig. 1. a
Fig. 6 is a view similar to Fig. 3 but showing the hair cover completely applied.
Fig. 7 is a front elevational view of Fig. 6.
The sanitary'hair. cover, according to this invention, comprises a sheet of material having a 50 central portion 10 consisting of an edge section 55 the material around this opening for reinforcing it. The sheet material continues at the side into narrow end portion l2 for extending around ones head to the back. A pliable member I3 is transversely mounted at its center upon one of said. end portions 12 and is adapted to form a core 5 about which the ends of said end portions may be wound when the hair cover is engaged on ones head, as clearly shown in Fig. 4; This pli-, able member l3 has end portions i3 bendable together, a'sshown in Fig. 3, for holding the end 10 portions of the hair cover. I I The pliable member l3 comprises an outer casing of paper housing an internal wire l3. One end portion 13*. is formed with aredu'ced section l3 forming shoulders I 3 for the purpose here- 15 inafter further described. The pliable member l3 vis shown attached upon the endportion I! by several staples l5.
The sanitary hair cover is engaged upon ones head in the following manner: The edge portion Iii is first engaged across the brow with the pointed portion extending verticallyupwards. The end portions l2 are bent around the head to the back and the excess is wound up about the pliable member 13 as a core. Thus the hair cover iscapable of fitting heads of different sizes. Each of the end portions are wound up so that the hair cover is tight on ones head and the ends l3 of the pliable member are bent outwards and towards each other as shown in Fig. 3. This'will o serve to hold the end portions [2 in fixed positions. The pointed portion of the protector is bent down across the top of the head and the eyelet ll engaged upon the reduced section I3 so that the eyelet rests against the shoulder I3. The hair cover is then completely mounted on ones head. v
While I have illustrated and describedthe preferred embodiments of my invention, it is to be understood that I do not limit myself to the pre- 40 material having a central portion consisting of an edge section to engage against ones brow and a top section extending upwards and formed with an opening, narrow end portions extending from said central portion for extending around ones head to the back, and a pliable member transversely mounted upon one of said end portions v and adapted to form a core about which the ends of said end portions may be wound and having portions bendable together to hold said latter end portions, whereby said top section may be bent backwards and its opening engaged on one of the bent ends of said pliable'member.
portions, whereby said top section may be bent backwards and its opening engaged on one of the bent ends of said pliable member, said pliable member comprising a casing of paper and an internal wire.
3. A sanitary hair cover comprising a sheet of material having a central portion consisting of an edge section to engage against ones brow and a top section extending upwards and formed with an opening, narrow end portions: extending from said central portion for extending around ones head to the back, and a pliable member transversely mounted upon one of said end portions and adapted to form a core about which the ends of said end portions may be wound and having portions bendable together to hold said latter end portions, whereby said top section may be bent backwards and its opening engaged on one of the bent ends of said pliable member, the endportion of said pliable member which engages through said opening being formed with a reduced portion engaging through said opening, said reduced portion forming a shoulder, which abuts against the material around said opening to fixedly hold said top section in position between said shoulder portion and the bent portion of said pliable member.
