This invention relates to a shoulder strap holder and has for an object to provide an improved shoulder strap holder for women's undergarments to hold the shoulder straps thereof in proper position.

Many forms of undergarment shoulder straps or lingerie shoulder strap holders have been known and are in use, butjthey are generally more or less complicated both to manufacture and to install, as well as being usually more or less annoying to use. The lingerie shoulder strap holder ofthis invention is extremely simplified over any present known lingerie shoulder strap holder. The holder of this invention may be manufactured much less expensively and much more simply than any previously known strap holders. It may be secured in position in a simple and easy manner and may be used in a convenient manner with a minimum of annoyance to to the user. With the use of this holder it is simple and easy to remove or replace the shoulder straps therein and the straps may slide without binding or tearing within the holder. The holder is made by an inexpensive manufacturing process of a single piece of wire suitably bent and folded.

With the foregoing and other objects in view, as will hereinafter become apparent, this invention comprises the constructions, combinations, and arrangements of parts, hereinafter set forth, disclosed and shown on the accompanying drawing. In this drawing,

. There is shown at ID the undergarment or lingerie shoulder strap holder of this invention. This holder I includes a straight arm II and an arcuate arm l2 resiliently secured thereto by means of a spring coiled portion l3. As will be observed from Figure 3, the straight arm II and the arcuate arm l2 do not extend in the same identical plane. Instead they extend in planes at slight angles to each other in accordance with the thickness of the coil spring l3 resiliently securing the same together.

At the other end of the straight arm ll there is formed an eye 14. The coil l3 and the eye l4 each perform the additional function of providing a securing means for receiving the threads or stitches l5 and securing the holder ID to the garment [6. As will be observed from Figure 1, the holder Ill of course is placed on the inner side of the garment It. The end of the arcuate arm I 2 is formed into a crook ll which, as will be observed, extends backwardly a distance substantially twice the diameter of the eye I4.

In operation the holder I0 is secured to the inner side of the garment 16 by means of stitching l5 placed through the eye [4 and the coil l3, leaving the arcuate arm l2 with its crook I! not directly secured by stitching. The lingerie or shoulder strap l 8 is inserted by merely slipping the same between the crock I1 and the eye I4, the curvature being such as to allow the strap l8 to pass easily thereby and then rest within the confines of the holder ID. The end of the crook ll prevents the shoulder straps Hi from accidentally sliding off sideways, inasmuch as the holder 10 will bend the stitching [5 until itlies substantially fiat beneath the garment Hi.

In removing the strap I8 from the holder I0 the garment I6 will be raised a bit from the shoulder of the wearer, allowing the holder ID to turn about to a plane substantially at right angles to the plane of a portion of the garment I6 to which it is secured. The strap [8 is then lifted a bit bringing it above the ends of the crock I! so that the outer curved side of the crock ll will then guide the shoulder strap l8 past the eye It to the release position. The resiliency of the coil l3 holds the crock I! snugly against the eye I4 and retains the shoulder strap I8 firmly in position so that it may easily slide therethrough in normal operation without being accidentally detached. It may be intentionally detached however at any time by the simple process already described.

The novel features and the operation of this device will be apparent from the foregoing description. While the device has been shown and the structure described in detail, it is obvious that this invention is not to be considered limited to the exact form disclosed, but that changes may be made therein within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.

Having thus set forth and disclosed the nature of this invention, what is claimed is:

A shoulder strap holder to be secured to the under side of a garment for detachably receiving an undergarment lingerie shoulder strap therein comprising an integral Wire member, said member having a straight bar portion, one end of said portion formed with an eye, the other end being formed into a spring coil, an arcuate arm extending from said coil, said arm being in a plane angularly disposed to and intersecting a similar plane of said straight bar portion, said arm terminating in an inwardly bent crook in the plane of the arm and in contact with the eye, the open end of said crook being spaced from said arcuate arm whereby a lingerie strap will be held against accidental displacement.
