Description

July 13, 1937.
I. o. HAAS 2,086,767
LINGERIE STRAP HOLDER Filed April 2'7, 1936 Patented July 13, 1937 UNITED STATES r rsr orrics 4" Claims.
My invention relates to a lingerie strap holder.
The purpose of my invention is to provide a lingerie strap holder of very simple and inexpensive construction, comprising a pin of the so-called beauty pin type with a loop extending from the lower part of the pin, near'one end thereof, and having at its free end a portion in- 1 clined toward the pin, terminating in a secondary loop inclined downwardly and into the first l0 loop and projecting laterally in both directions from the plane of the pin.
With these and other objects in View, my invention consists in the construction, arrangement and combination of the various parts of my lingerie strap holder, whereby the objects contemplated are attained, as hereinafter more fully set forth, pointed out in my claims, and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a lingerie strap holder embodying my invention.
Figure 2 is a sectional view taken on the line 2-2 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a side elevation of the lingerie strap holder showing also portions of the garment in section; and
Figure 4 is a sectional view taken on the line 4-4 of Figure 3.
Women commonly wear lingerie provided with straps extended over their shoulders. These straps tend to slide down over the shoulder.
My lingerie strap holder has a pin portion, which can be fastened on the inside of a dress, preferably at the shoulder seam and has also the loop portion through which the shoulder strap of the lingerie can be conveniently inserted.
In the accompanying drawing, I have used the reference character A to indicate the pin and the character B to show the strap-holding loop.
The pin is in the form of what is commonly known as a beauty pin, having the flattened back ill, from which at one end there curves the pin portion H and from which at the other end curves the head or clasp- I2 for receiving the pin point.
For convenience, I will describe my holder as though the pin were in a substantially vertical plane with the pin proper l up.
Extending downwardly from one end of the back H] of the pin is one arm l3 of the loop B. 50 From the lower end of the arm 53, the central or body portion M of the loop B extends substantially parallel with the back I6. At the free end of the body portion 14, the other arm I5 extends upwardly toward the pin.
55 The free arm I5 of the loop B is inclined inwardly and downwardly and terminates in a second loop I 6. The loop It extends laterally from the vertical plane of the pin, as clearly shown in Figure 2, so that it projects from both sides of the loop B. It is somewhat flattened at its end nearest the arm IS.
The holder is preferably made of metal, which has some spring.
In the practical use of my lingerie holder, the portion ll of the pin is inserted through the material of the dress ll, preferably at the shoulder seam.
The lingerie strap Hi can then be slipped between the back ID of the pin and the loop It, past the loop l6 and allowed to drop into the loop A. 7
My holder will then support the strap, so that the strap can not slip down over the shoulder, but will always be held properly in place.
The peculiar arrangement and shape of the loop I6 prevents any accidental escape of the strap 18 from the loop B.
In Figure 4, I have shown a section taken on the line 4-4 of Figure 3. This illustrates how the loop i6 will hold the strap in place, even though the wearer may stoop over or bend sidewise, so as to cause the strap It to slip toward the end of the loop B.
A holder of this kind has a number of important advantages.
In the first place, the pin can be conveniently and quickly fastened in any dress without sewing the holder. 7 By releasing the pin, the holder can be removed from the dress for any desired purpose, as when the dress is to be laundered or the pin is to be used with other garments.
After the pin isiastened to the dress. the lingerie strap may be slipped into place conveniently and easily.
It will be obvious that the strap !8 may he slipped out of the loop. The top of the loop is slightly spaced from the back ill of the pin. This permits the convenient insertion and removal of the strap, while at the same time the peculiar shape of the loop it prevents the strap from accidentally slipping out of the loop, regardless of the position the holder may take during use.
It will be understood that changes may be made in the details of the methods of manufacture and in the material to be used and in the exact shapes of the parts. For example, the loop it maybe in the form of a loop as shown, or may be simply a fiat member of the same shape. It is noted that the member 16 must be so located with relation to the back of the pin, that it projects on both sides of it.
It is my intention to cover by my claims any variations in the material used or the structure of the holder, which may be reasonably included Within the scope of my invention and of my claims.
I claim as my invention:
1. In a lingerie strap holder, a beauty pin having a substantially U-shaped loop secured at one end thereto, said loop having at its free end a portion in-turned toward the pin and then inclined away from the pin toward the bottom of the loop, and terminating in a curved loop lying in a plane at right angles to that of the pin, and projecting laterally in both directions from the plane of the first loop.
2. In a lingerie strap holder, a beauty pin, a strap holding loop associated therewith, having one arm secured to the back of the pin near one end thereof and another arm inclined toward the pin and terminating in an in-turned portion inclined toward the base of the loop and projecting in both directions from the plane of the loop, and having a flattened inner end.
3. In a lingerie strap holder, a beauty pin, a strap-holding loop associated therewith, having one arm secured to the back of the pin near one end thereof and another arm inclined toward the pin and terminating in an in-turned portion projecting in both directions from the plane of the loop. 1
4. In a lingerie strap-holder, a beauty pin, a strap-holding loop associated therewith, having one arm secured to the back of the pin near one end thereof and another arm inclined toward the pin and terminating in an in-turned portion projecting in both directions from the plane of the loop, said portion being so located with relation to the back of the pin that it projects on both sides of such pin back.
