Abstract

The invention relates to a piece of furniture (1) comprising at least two drawers (2, 3, 4) which lie one above the other and which comprise similar front panels (5) that can be removably connected to lateral walls (6, 7) of the drawers (2, 3, 4) via furniture fittings (10, 20). The furniture fittings (10, 20) can be fixed in bores (51, 52) of the front panels (5) using fixing elements (8) which lie one above the other. Each furniture fitting (10, 20) has three fixing points (11, 12, 13, 21, 22, 23) for the fixing elements (8), each said furniture fitting (10, 20) being fixed to the front panel (5) at only two fixing points (11, 12, 13, 21, 22, 23) of the furniture fitting (10, 20) by means of the fixing elements (8) in order to determine a different height of the front panel (5) relative to the lateral wall (6, 7) of the drawer (2, 3, 4).

Description

  • The invention relates to a piece of furniture including at least two drawers lying one above the other having front panels of the same type that can be removably connected using furniture fittings to lateral walls of the drawers, wherein said the furniture fittings are fastenable via fastening elements positioned one above the other in bores of said front panels.
  • The invention furthermore relates to an assembly kit for producing a piece of furniture.
  • Pieces of furniture including drawers lying one above the other and having front panels of the same type are known from the prior art. A problem found in such pieces of furniture is that the bottommost front panel of the bottommost drawer is not intended to be disposed in the same position as the upper front panels of the upper drawers since the front panel of the bottommost drawer is also intended to cover a base of the furniture body to attain an aesthetically appealing presentation.
  • It is the object of the invention to provide a piece of furniture that is improved over that of the prior art.
  • This object is solved by the features of claim 1 and by the features of claim 5.
  • Since each furniture fitting includes three fastening locations for the fastening elements with which—in order to set a different height of the front panel relative to the lateral wall of the drawer—the fastening of the furniture fitting is effected via the fastening elements to each front panel at only two fastening locations of the furniture fitting, or since each of the front panels includes three bore holds per furniture fitting for the fastening elements and—in order to set a different height of the front panel relative to the lateral wall of the drawer—the furniture fitting is fastened to the front panel via the fastening elements at only two bores of each front panel, a piece of furniture can be created that, by using front panels of exactly the same type and entirely identical furniture fittings for attaching the front panels to the lateral walls of the drawers, different heights of the front panels relative to the lateral walls of the drawers can be achieved. Accordingly, when front panels of the same type are used, drawers can also be built, the front panels of which can both extend further downward, i.e. toward below the drawer, and drawers can also be created wherein the front panels can also be positioned higher.
  • This makes assembly easier especially for laypersons since a mix-up of the front panels upon assembly, as would have been the case had the front panels been configured differently, is no longer possible. Upon assembling the piece of furniture, only the fastening locations of the furniture fitting or of the bores of the front panel need be appropriately chosen to attain a different height of the front panel relative to the lateral wall of the drawer.
  • Additional advantageous embodiments of the invention are defined in the dependent claims.
  • It has been found to be particularly advantageous if, for setting a first height of the front panel relative to the lateral wall of the drawer, the fastening elements can be connected to the upper two of the three fastening locations, and furthermore for setting a second height of the front panel relative to the lateral wall of the drawer, the fastening elements can be connected to the lower two of the three fastening locations, and finally that in both heights, the fastening elements can respectively be fastened at the same two bores of the front panel. Through a appropriate selection of the upper or of the lower fastening locations of the furniture fittings, an offset of the front panel relative to the lateral walls of the drawer can thus be achieved, wherein only the same bores of the front panels are always used.
  • According to another preferred embodiment, it can be provided that for setting a first height of the front panel relative to the lateral wall of the drawer, the fastening elements are fastenable to the upper two of the three bores and that for setting a second height of the front panel relative to the lateral wall of the drawer, the fastening elements are fastenable to the lower two of the three bores, and that in both heights, the fastening elements can be respectively connected to the same two fastening locations of the furniture fitting. Thus, a vertical offset of the front panel relative to the lateral walls of the drawers can be achieved solely by selecting the corresponding bore holds of the front panel, wherein the fastening can always be effected using the same fastening locations of the furniture fitting.
  • It can furthermore be advantageously provided that the piece of furniture has at least one drawer including a front panel in the first height relative to the lateral wall of the drawer and that the piece of furniture has at least one drawer including a front panel in the second height relative to the lateral wall of the drawer. It is thereby possible for a front panel to cover the end side of a base of the furniture body without a separate front panel being needed.
  • It can be regarded as particularly advantageous that the bottom drawer of the piece of furniture has a front panel that is designed to be disposed lower relative to the lateral wall of the drawer and moreover that all other drawers have a front panel that is designed to be disposed higher relative to the lateral walls of the drawers. A piece of furniture can thus be created that has a plurality of drawers having identical front panels that are disposed at the same height relative to the lateral walls of the drawer and that this piece of furniture moreover has a drawer the front panel of which is disposed lower relative to the lateral walls of the drawer, whereby an end side of a base of a furniture body can be covered, thereby attaining an aesthetically pleasing piece of furniture.
  • It can moreover be regarded as favourable that the furniture fittings are configured to be premountable to the front panels and that the lateral walls of the drawers respectively include a mounting fixture for detachable mounting of the furniture fittings. This configuration can contribute to simplified assembly as well as disassembly of the piece of furniture.
  • Protection is also being sought for an assembly kit for manufacturing a piece of furniture according to at least one of the above-described embodiments having at least two left-hand and right-hand lateral walls of at least two drawers, at least two front panels, at least four furniture fittings, and at least eight fastening elements.
  • Further details and advantages of the present invention will be explained in greater detail in the following using the description of the figures with reference to the exemplary embodiments depicted in the drawings:

  • FIG. 2 shows a side view of a piece of furniture having three drawers,
  • FIG. 3 shows an additional side view of a piece of furniture having three drawers,
  • FIG. 4 shows a side view of a further piece of furniture having two drawers,
  • FIG. 5 a shows a perspective view of a part of a front panel including two furniture fittings at a first height,
  • FIG. 5 b shows a perspective view of a front panel including two furniture fittings at a second height,
  • FIGS. 6 a and 6 b show two perspective views of two furniture fittings and their fastening elements,
  • FIGS. 7 a and 7 b show two perspective views of a furniture fitting and fastening elements disposed therein for assembly at a first height,
  • FIGS. 7 c and 7 d show two perspective views of the furniture fitting as in FIGS. 7 a and 7 b for assembly at a second height,
  • FIGS. 8 a and 8 b show two perspective views of a furniture fitting including fastening elements for assembly at a first height,
  • FIGS. 8 c and 8 d show two perspective views of the furniture fitting as in FIGS. 8 a and 8 b for assembly at a second height,
  • FIG. 9 shows a side view of a piece of furniture having three drawers disposed therein.
  • FIG. 1 shows a perspective view of a piece of furniture 1 having three drawers 2, 3, and 4. Each of the drawers 2, 3, and 4 has two lateral walls 6 and 7. A front panel 5 is fastened to the lateral walls 6 and 7 of each of the drawers 2, 3, and 4.
  • An entirely identical front panel 5 is used for all three of the drawers 2, 3, and 4.
  • Said drawers 2, 3, and 4 are supported in the furniture body 90 of the piece of furniture 1. The furniture body 90 has on its top an end side 91 and end sides 93 on its lateral walls. The base of the furniture body 90 is located beneath the bottom drawer 4 likewise having an end side 92.
  • To create an aesthetically pleasing piece of furniture 1, the front panel 5 covers the top drawer 2 when in a closed state and also covers the lateral walls 93 of the furniture body as well as the top of the furniture body or the end side 91 of the top of the furniture body.
  • The front panel 5 of the centre drawer 3 covers the end sides 93 of the lateral walls of the furniture body while the bottom drawer 4, more precisely the front panel 5 thereof, when said drawer 4 is in a closed state covers both the end sides 93 of the lateral walls of the furniture body and the end side 92 of the base of the furniture body. Thus, when all three drawers 2, 3, and 4 are in a closed state, the end side of the furniture body 90 is not visible.
  • FIG. 2 shows the side view of a piece of furniture 1 including a furniture body 90 and drawers 2, 3, and 4 disposed therein, wherein the front panels 5 are shown in sectional representation.
  • The lateral walls 6 and 7 of the drawers (6 not shown) are each connected to the front panels 5 via the furniture fittings 10 and 20 not shown here (see FIG. 3).
  • Said connection is produced here via the fastening elements 8, which are introduced into the bores 51 and 52 in the front panels.
  • As can be clearly seen in FIG. 2, the front panel 5 of the top drawer 2 extends up to the upper edge of the furniture body 90, whereby the end side 91 of the top of the furniture body is covered when said drawer 2 is in a closed state. The same is true with drawer 4, wherein when said drawer 4 is in a closed state, the front panel 5 thereof covers the end side 92 of the base of the furniture body. This is not achieved by differently configured front panels 5 but rather by the front panels 5 being positioned on the lateral walls 6 and 7 of the drawers at a different height thereto.
  • FIG. 3 shows a side view of a piece of furniture 1, just as is shown in FIG. 2, yet with the difference that the coverings of the lateral walls 7 of both lower drawers 3 and 4 have been removed.
  • In this view, the upper furniture fittings 10 and the lower furniture fittings 20 of the drawers 3 and 4 are now visible, which fittings were fastened to the bores 51 and 52 via the fastening elements 8 (for the sake of clarity, not shown in this FIG. 3; see FIG. 2).
  • With regard to drawer 3, the furniture fittings 10 and 20, respectively including both of the two upper fastening locations thereof, are fastened to the front panel 5. In contrast with regard to the bottom drawer 4, the furniture fittings 10 and 20, respectively including both of the two bottom fastening locations thereof, are fastened to the front panel 5, whereby an offset of the front panel 5 is achieved relative to the lateral wall 7 of the drawer 4, thereby making it possible for the front panel 5 when in a closed state to cover the end side 92 of the base of the furniture body.
  • FIG. 4 shows a detail view of a side view of an additional piece of furniture 1 including a furniture body 90 and only two drawers 3 and 4.
  • In this exemplary embodiment, the front panel 5 of the top drawer 3 in turn covers the end side 91 of the top of the furniture body when the drawer 3 is in a closed state, and the front panel 5 of the drawer 4 when said drawer 4 is in a closed state also covers the end side 92 of the base of the furniture body. The bores 51 and 52 are entirely identical in both of the front panels 5.
  • The different covering of the end sides of the furniture body 90 is exclusively achieved by an attaching of the front panels 5 at different heights relative to the lateral walls 7 of the drawers 3 and 4. This offset is in turn solely achieved in that the furniture fittings 10 and 20 are fitted at different heights relative to the front panel 5.
  • The receiving fixture 9 in the lateral walls 6 and 7 is also easily recognisable in FIG. 4, which receiving fixture makes it possible for the lateral walls 6 and 7 of the drawers 3 and 4 to detachably receive the furniture fittings 10 and 20. The furniture fittings 10 and 20 can thereby already be pre-mounted on the front panels 5 prior to the front panels 5 being joined to the lateral walls 6 and 7 of the drawers 2, 3, and 4 (see FIGS. 5 a and 5 b).
  • A piece of furniture 1 is thus concerned including at least two drawers 3 and 4 lying one above the other having front panels 5 of the same type that can be detachably connected to the lateral walls 6 and 7 of the drawers 3 and 4 via furniture fittings 10 and 20, wherein said furniture fittings 10 and 20 are fastenable via fastening elements 8 in bores 51 and 52 of the front panels 5, wherein each furniture fitting 10 and 20 has three fastening locations 11, 12, and 13 or 21, 22 and 23 (not shown; see FIGS. 7 a to 7 d and FIGS. 8 a to 8 d) for the fastening elements 8 with which the fastening of the furniture fitting 10 and 20 to the front panel 5 via the fastening elements 8 can be respectively effected at only two fastening locations 11, 12 and 13 or 21, 22, and 23 of the furniture fitting 10 and 20 in order to set a different height of the front panel 5 relative to the lateral wall 6 and 7 of the drawer 3 and 4.
  • The front panels 5 have, per furniture fitting 10 and 20, two bores 51 and 52, one located above the other, for receiving the fastening elements 8. The three fastening locations 11, 12, and 13 or 21, 22, and 23 of the furniture fittings 10 and 20 are configured one above the other.
  • For setting a first height of the front panel 5 relative to lateral walls 6 and 7 of drawer 3, the fastening elements 8 can be connected to the upper two of the three fastening locations, and to set a second height of the front panel 5 relative to lateral walls 6 and 7 of the drawer 4, the fastening elements 8 can be connected to the lower two of the three fastening locations; the fastening elements 8 at both heights can furthermore be respectively fastened at the same two bores 51 and 52 of the front panel 5.
  • Thus, the piece of furniture 1 has at least one drawer 3 including a front panel 5 at a first height relative to lateral walls 6 and 7 of the drawer 3, and the piece of furniture 1 has a drawer 4 including a front panel 5 at a second height relative to lateral walls 6 and 7 of drawer 4.
  • As shown in FIGS. 1 through 3, the piece of furniture 1 is such that the bottom drawer 4 of the piece of furniture 1 has a front panel 5 that is configured lower relative to lateral walls 6 and 7 of drawer 4 and that all other drawers 2 and 3 have a front panel 5 that is configured higher relative to lateral walls 6 and 7 of drawers 2 and 3.
  • FIGS. 5 a and 5 b show both different fastening positions of both furniture fittings 10 and 20 on the front panel 4 using the same bores 51 and 52 of the front panel 5 via fastening elements 8.
  • FIG. 5 a shows how both furniture fittings 10 and 20 have been connected to the front panel 5 via both of their top fastening locations, whereby in an assembly situation not shown here, the front panel 5 would project farther up the lateral wall of the drawer, thereby making it possible for the end side to cover a top of the furniture body.
  • Or alternatively as FIG. 5 b shows, both of the furniture fittings 10 and 20 including the lower fastening locations thereof can likewise be attached in the front panel 5, specifically in bores 51 and 52 thereof, thereby offsetting the front panel 5 downward, and thereby allowing the front panel to cover the end side of a base of a furniture body. It should be noted once again that an identical front panel 5 is concerned, preventing any confusion upon assembly.
  • The fastening elements 8 can be introduced into the openings in the furniture fittings 10 and 20 and are fastenable in the bores 51 and 52 of the front panels 5 (see description of FIGS. 7 and 8 with regard to the openings).
  • FIG. 6 a shows a perspective view of the top furniture fitting 10. Said furniture fitting 10 has three fastening locations 11, 12, and 13, wherein in this view only fastening location 13 is visible, while the other two fastening locations 11 and 12 can be seen in FIGS. 7 b and 7 d. In this preferred exemplary embodiment, the fastening elements 8 are formed as screws 80 with which the furniture fitting 10 are fastenable to the front panel 5 not shown here.
  • FIG. 6 b shows a perspective view of the bottom furniture fitting 20 with its three fastening locations 21, 22, and 23. Here, too, the fastening elements 8 are configured as screws 80.
  • FIGS. 7 a and 7 d show different perspective views of the top furniture fitting 10 and the fastening locations 11, 12, and 13 thereof.
  • To fasten the furniture fitting 10 to the front panel 5 not shown here, the fastening elements 8 positioned one above the other are introduced into the two lower fastening locations 12 and 13, which are formed as openings, in order to arrange the furniture fitting 10 at a higher position on the front panel 5 (as shown in FIGS. 7 a and 7 b).
  • In the representations of FIGS. 7 c and 7 d, both fastening elements 8 positioned one above the other are disposed in both of the upper openings 11 and 12 in order to arrange the furniture fitting 10 in a lower position on the front panel 5.
  • It is thus possible to set the height at which the furniture fitting 10 is disposed on the front panel 5 solely via the selection of fastening locations 11, 12, and 13 positioned one above the other.
  • FIGS. 8 a and 8 b show different perspective views of the second furniture fitting 20 and the fastening elements 8 disposed therein.
  • FIGS. 8 a and 8 b show the attaching of the fastening elements 8 positioned one above the other to the two lower fastening locations 22 and 23 of the furniture fitting 20; FIGS. 8 c and 8 d show the attaching of the fastening elements 8 positioned one above the other to the two upper fastening locations 21 and 22 of the furniture fitting 20.
  • The relative height of the furniture fitting 20 to the front panel 5 not shown here can be set by selecting the corresponding fastening locations.
  • As can be seen in FIGS. 7 and 8, the fastening locations 11, 12, 13, 21, 22, and 23 in this preferred exemplary embodiment are configured as openings. It can likewise be easily recognised in these figures that the fastening elements 8 can be introduced into the openings of the furniture fittings 10 and 20 and subsequently—not shown—, fastened in the bores 51, 52, and 53 of the front panel 5.
  • FIG. 9 shows a variation of a piece of furniture 1 in which the fastening of a front panel 5 is effected at different heights relative to the lateral walls 6 and 7 of the drawers (6 is not shown here). It is thereby possible in turn for the front panel 5 of the top drawer 2 to cover the end side of the top of the furniture body 91 when the drawer 2 is in a closed state and likewise for the front panel 5 of bottom drawer 4 to cover the end side of the base of the furniture body 92 when the drawer 4 is in a closed state.
  • Unlike in the previous exemplary embodiments, this is not achieved in this exemplary embodiment with three different fastening locations on the furniture fitting, but rather with three bores 51, 52, and 53 in the front panel 5, wherein only two of said three bores 51, 52, and 53 are used for the furniture fitting.
  • A piece of furniture 1 is thus obtained including at least two drawers lying one above the other—in this embodiment three drawers 2, 3, and 4 lying one above the other—having front panels 5 of the same type that can be detachably connected via furniture fittings 10 and 20 (not shown) to the lateral walls 6 and 7 of the drawers 2, 3, and 4, wherein the furniture fittings 10 and 20 are fastenable with fastening elements 8 in bores 51, 52, and 53 of the front panels 5, wherein the front panels 5 respectively have, per furniture fitting 10 and 20, three bores 51, 52, and 53 for said fastening elements 8, using which bores 51, 52, and 53 the fastening of each furniture fitting 10 and 20 to the front panel 5 via the fastening elements 8 is effected at only two bores 51, 52, or 53 of the front panel 5 in order to set a different height of the front panel 5 relative to lateral walls 6 and 7 of drawers 2, 3, and 4. For reasons of clarity, the furniture fittings 10 and 20 are not shown in this FIG. 9, but are found in the same locations as in the other pieces of furniture 1 shown.
  • The front panels 5 respectively have in this preferred exemplary embodiment three bores 51, 52, and 53 per furniture fitting 10 and 20, which bores 51, 52, and 53 are positioned one above the other.
  • Owing to the configuration of three bores 51, 52, and 53, now only one furniture fitting 10 or 20 is required which furthermore has only two fastening locations 11 and 12 or 21 and 22 (not shown). For setting a first height of the front panel 5 relative to lateral walls 6 and 7 of drawer 4, the fastening elements 8 are fastenable at the upper two bores 51 and 52; for setting a second height of the front panel 5 relative to lateral walls 6 and 7 of drawers 2 and 3, the fastening elements 8 are fastenable at the lower two bores 52 and 53. The fastening elements 8 can be respectively connected at the same two fastening locations of the furniture fittings 10 and 20 at both heights.
  • It is especially preferred to provide an assembly kit for manufacturing a piece of furniture having at least two left-hand and right- hand lateral walls 6 and 7 of at least two drawers 3 and 4 and of at least two front panels 5 and moreover at least four furniture fittings 20 and at least eight fastening elements 8.
  • With regard to the piece of furniture 1 as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, it is always assumed that the furniture fittings 10 and 20 have three fastening locations and each of the front panels 5 has two bores corresponding thereto. It is evident to a person skilled in the art that this limitation of the number of fastening elements and of bores is not in fact limited to this number. It is likewise also conceivable that the furniture fitting can also have a different number of fastening locations and the same applies to the front panels. It is of import only that the furniture fitting have one more fastening location than the front panels have bores.
  • The exemplary embodiment of FIG. 9 is similar in that it is only of concern that the front panel have one more bore than the furniture fitting has fastening locations.
  • In all exemplary embodiments, the fastening locations of the furniture fittings 10 and 20 are spaced equidistant to each other. Each of the bores of the front panels is likewise spaced equidistant from the others.
