  • the sheet 28 is printed as it passes through the nip between the impression cylinder 7 and the transfer cylinder 6 .

  • the advancing device 18 is set in operation with a motor 33 and a mechanism 34 .
  • the loadbearing elements 17 that are fastened to a crossmember 35 pass through the pallet grooves onto the loadbearing rail 20 .
  • the loadbearing elements 17 are of pivotably connected members 36 that follow the curved shape of the guide 19 outside the pallet grooves and a guide in the holder 16 . After passing through the guide in the holder 16 and after lying on the loadbearing rail 20 , the members of the loadbearing elements 17 are flexurally rigid for the load of the auxiliary stack 11 . Furthermore, the auxiliary stack 11 is moved toward the suction grippers 24 , 25 by vertical driving of the holder 16 and the loadbearing rail 20 through the chain mechanism on the chains 21 , 22 . Here, the weight of the auxiliary stack 11 is completely held on the loadbearing elements 17 .
  • the stacking table 12 together with the pallet 10 is lowered on the chains 13 , 14 through the chain mechanisms until it assumes a lower position for picking up a new main stack.
  • the new main stack is moved under the loadbearing elements 17 of the auxiliary stack even before the auxiliary stack 11 has been processed.
  • the main stack and the auxiliary stack 11 are aligned.
  • the loadbearing elements 17 are drawn in in the direction of the guide 19 by the advancing device 18 .
  • the auxiliary stack 11 and the new main stack are combined to form a stack 11 .
  • the combined stack 11 is moved further toward the suction head 23 by the chain mechanism and the chains 13 , 14 .
  • FIG. 2 shows the loadbearing elements 17 on the crossmember 35 .
  • the crossmember 35 has cutouts 37 in which the ends of the loadbearing elements 17 are fastened.
  • the loadbearing elements 17 are inserted in elongate form into grooves 38 of the pallet 10 , which is shown in greater detail in FIG. 3 .
  • Both the tips 32 of the loadbearing elements 17 and the grooves 38 have insertion bevels 39 , 40 .
  • FIGS. 4 and 5 show two views with details of how the crossmember 35 is disposed in the guide 19 .
  • the crossmember 35 is guided on a roller track 43 on both sides by rollers 41 , 42 .

  • the cylindrical bolt 52 is rotatably mounted in a hole in the crossmember 35 .
  • a projection 53 of the bolt 52 and a securing ring 54 prevent the bolt 52 from being displaced in the axial direction.
  • the loadbearing element 17 and the connecting piece 50 can be pivoted about the axis of the pin 51 .
  • the pivoting movement of the loadbearing element 17 about the axes of the pins 49 , 51 and the rotation about the axis of the bolts 52 , 55 are limited by the inner walls of the cutouts 37 .
  • FIG. 8 shows an embodiment in which some of the loadbearing elements 17 have an amount of play x in the crossmember 35 because the length of the bolt 52 has been somewhat enlarged in comparison with FIGS. 6 and 7 .
  • loadbearing elements 17 under the stack 11 When the loadbearing elements 17 under the stack 11 are pulled out, loadbearing elements 17 having the amount of play x begin to be pulled out somewhat later than loadbearing elements 17 without play. As a result of a different amount of play x, every loadbearing element 17 can be pulled out at a different instant.
  • the play x can be provided in equal amounts symmetrically with respect to the sheet center across the width of a sheet 28 , in the case of pairs of loadbearing elements 17 .
