Application June 27, 19:4, sci-in No. 132,053 1 Claim. (Ci. lat-15o) The principal object of the present invention is to provide a combined abdominal supporterand suspensory, for the use of athletes and others. which shall be eflicient, comfortable and attractive, and yet comparatively inexpensive.
Other objects of the invention will appear from the following description.
Generally stated, the invention comprises an elongated tube of elastic knitted fabric including 1 buried rubber strands and having portions of different degrees of elasticity, of which one is a waist belt and of which the other is an abdominal supporter, and is bifurcated back and front to provide leg openings, and a strip of relatively 15 inelastic fabric having pointed ends secured to the edges of the bifurcations and provided with darts extending from the points of union of the edges of the bifurcations with the body of the strip, providing a suspensory pouch. The invention also comprises the improvements to be presently described and finally claimed.
In the following description, reference will be made to the accompanying drawing forming part hereof and in which:
Figure l is a view of a combined abdominal supporter and suspensory embodying features of the invention.
Figure 2 is a view of the same in distended a position as occurs in use, and it is either back or front view, since the back and rent are alike, and
Fig. 3 is a plan view showing a part detachedand indicating in dotted lines the original shape thereof and indicating in full lines the finished mom. I
In the drawing. there is shown an elongated tube of elastic knitted fabric having buried strands of rubber ranging around the same. The portions 1 and 2 of the tube are of different degrees of elasticity, and the portion 1 is more elas- 6 tic and is a waist belt. The portion 2 is an abdominal supporter and is axially bifurcated o1 slashed at both the back and front. 3 is a strip of relatively inelastic fabric and its ends 4 are pointed and secured to the edges 6 of the bifurl0 cations. The strip is provided with four darts 7, extending from the points 8 of the union of the edges of the bifurcations with the body of the strip. The strip provides a suspensory pouch and it may well be knitted of soft yarn. 16
It will be obvious to those skilled in the art to which the invention relates that modifications may be made in details of construction and arrangement in matters of mere form without departing from the spirit of the invention which is 20 not limited in respect to such matters or otherwise than as the prior art and the appended claim may require.
I claim:-
- An athletic girdle comprising an elongated tube :5 of elastic fabric having portions of different degrees of elasticity and of which one is a waistbelt and the other is an abdominal supporter and is bifurcated back and front to provide leg openlugs, and a strip of relatively inelastic fabric having pointed ends secured to the edges of the bifurcations and provided with darts extending from the points of union of the edges of the bifurcations with the body of the strip providing a suspensory pouch. g
