Description

March 4, 1947. B, H TRINKEL 42,416,857
y SLEEPING GARMENT TROUSERS I Filed Aug. 3, 1944 INVENTOR awww@ Patented Mar. 4, 1947 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE SLEEPING GARMENT TROUSERS Benjamin H. Trinkel, Providence, R. I.
Application August 3, 1944, Serial No. 547,836
4 Claims.
This invention relates to a sleeping garment, more particularly to the trousers of pajamas.
In they use of pajama trousers of a sleeping garment it has been frequently experienced that the body of the wearer in twisting in bed moves with relation to the sleeping garment and the sleeping garment twists so as to bind and draw across the body and become uncomfortable.
One of the objects of this invention is to construct the trouser portion of pajamas so that they will not twist and bind upon the body due to movement in bed.
Another object of this invention is to provide the body portion of the garment about the waist and thighs snug while leaving the leg covering portion of the garment loose for comfort of the wearer.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists of certain novel features of construction, as will be more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
Fig. 1 is a front View of the trousers portion of a garment;
Fig. 2 is a rear View of the trousers portion of a sleeping garment;
Fig. 3 is a front portion of a modied form of garment with respect to that which is shown in Figs. 1 and 2.
In proceeding with this invention I provide the body portion of the trousers of pajamas or sleeping garments snug about the waist and thighs leaving the leg portions loose so that the same will not bind upon the legs of the wearer. In order to provide the portions snug about the portion of the body which it is desired they should fit about, I provide some elastic material or insert to draw the body portion so as to closely t the body.
With reference to the drawings I designates generally the trousers portion of pajamas including a body portion I I and trousers portion I 2 which as illustrated in Figs. 1 and 2 are formed oi some woven fabric which is relatively inextendible in the direction of itsilength or width. A certain fullness I3 is provided about the waist and thighs and in order to draw this body portion II snug about the waist and thighs I have inserted an elastic material designated generally III and usually formed of some knitted fabric which will be elastically extendible and contractible. This insert I 4 extends from the front down through the crotch and up the other side as at i of its fabricated construction such as knit material I may use a woven rubber material which Anv . 2 will have elasticity in the directions desired.
In some cases instead of providing some portion of the body of the sleeping garment about the Waist and thigh of a Woven material I may provide, asshown in Fig. 3 at I'I, the entire body portion about the waist and thighs of knitted material so as to hug snugly this portion of the wearer. In this case the leg portions I8 which are sewed on as at I9 to the body will be of woven material and will be of a sufficient dimension to be loose about the legsof the wearer and not bind thereon.
By reason of having the body portions of the sleeping garments snug about the waist and thighs of the wearer this portion which usually slides upon the wearer and becomes twisted will move with the wearer and will not twist. Consequently there will beno binding ordrawing of the fabric across the wearer to become uncomfortable on him. At the same time by utilizing the leg portions of woven material these may be made loose and comfortable on the body.
I claim:
1. In a sleeping garment, a body portion having sections extending from the waist to the crotch about the hips with at least one section of said body portion formed of elastically extendible material to draw all of said sections snug about the waist and hips of the wearer, and leg portions extending from the body portion of non-elastic material and of a size to be loose on the limbs of the wearer.
2. In a sleeping garment as set forth in claim 1 wherein said leg portions are of Woven material.
3. In a sleeping garment as set forth in claim 1 wherein said elastically extendible material is knitted material.
4. In a sleeping garment as set forth in claim 1 wherein said elastically extendible material is knitted material and said leg portions are woven material.
BENJAMIN I-I. TRINKEL.
