IMPROVEMENT IN CLAMPS- Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 189,767, dated April 17, 1877 application filed February 9, 1877.
T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOHN GEORGE MOLE, of Batavia, Kane county, State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Clamps; and I hereby declare that the following is a clear and exact description whieh will enable others to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, and to the-letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
The object of my invention is to provide an adjustable extension-clamp for the use of carpenters and mechanics.
The nature of the invention consists in the combination of devices employed, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
Referring to the drawings, Figure 1 is a side view of my improved adjustable extension-clamp.
A is the standard or main arm of the clamp; B, serrations upon the same; 0, the fixed arm formed upon the lower end of the standard A, and provided with an interiorly-threaded orifice, 0, through which operates the set-screw D. F represents the upper jaw, adjustable upon the ratchet or serrations B of the main arm.
I am aware of the patents granted to L. Wharton, No. 106,900, August 30, 1870, and O. S. Bonney, No. 135,882, February 18, 1873, and hereby disclaim what is therein shown and described.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The combination of the standard A, having serrations B and fixed arm 0, provided with the threaded orifice c, with the set-screw D, and adjustable jaw F, all constructed to operate as shown and described, and for the purpose set forth.
