Description

G. lELDER Feb. 2, l 932.
SUSPENDER Filed March 25, 1951 A Home y Patented Febe 2, 1932 `Unirse srarss AParleur OFFICE GEORGE ELDER, OF LAWRENCEBRG, INDIANA SUSPENDER Application filed March 23, 1931. Serial No. 524,722.
- being mainly designed for the rear part of the Suspenders.
Another object of the invention is to provide a tape or string which is lconnected to the connected ends of the webbing, so that f this string or tape can be grasped to pull the webbing downwardly over the back so that the button engaging member can be placed over a hook at the connected ends of said webbing.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawin gs, wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure l is a fragmentary View showing the rear portion of a pair of Suspenders connected to the garment and showing the invention in use. 1'
Fig. 2 is a section on line 2 2 of Fig. l.
Fig. 3 is a view of the hook member.
In the drawings, the numerall indicates the webbing of a pair of Suspenders and the numeral 3 indicates a member having button holes 4 at its ends for engaging the buttons of a pair of trousers or the like as shown in Fig. l. A plate 5 has its lower end bent to provide a hook 6 and the major portion of the plate is placed in the folded ends of the webbings Aas shown at 7 so that the major portion of the plate is hidden from View and only the hook 6 is exposed.
The member 3 is adapted to be placed in the hook and connects the webbing with said button engaging member thus enabling the webbing and said member to be easily connected together or disconnected from each other, and rendering it unnecessary to unbutton the member' 3 from the buttons when the garment is to be released from the suspender. This arrangement also prevents the sus penders from hanging down and contacting the floor while they are being taken off, as
the webbing remains placed on the shoulders.
A tape 7 depends from the meeting ends of the webbing and provides means whereby one can easily pull the webbing down across the back to permit the member 3 to be placed in the hook 6. Y
The ends of the webbing fold over the upper end of the plate, while member 7 passes into the folded portions of the webbing, and contacts the plate and eyelets, rivets or the like as shown at 8 pass through the plate, the tape and the folded portions of the webbing as shown in Fig. 2, to connect the parts together. Y
A projection 9 is formed on the plate within the hook portion and acts to frictionally hold the member 3 in the hook portion but permits this to be easily withdrawn from the hook portion or placed therein.
It is thought from the foregoing ldescription that the advantages and novel features of the invention will be readily apparent.
It isV to be understood that changes may be made in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.`
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is ln Suspenders, a pair of convergingly arranged webbings, a plate having a hook at its lower end, the ends of the webbings being folded around the top part of the plate to cover the same, a member passing through the hook and removably supported thereby, button holes in the ends of said member, and a flexible strip having its upper end connected with the rear face of the plate and depending therefrom in rear of the hook, a part of the folded Webbings covering the upper end of the strip with the strip de ending from between the folded part, an fastening members passing through the plate at the upper end ofthe stripend through the front and rear fold parts of the Webbings.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
GEORGE ELDER.
