Dec. 15, 1931.
s. HIRSCHBERGER HANGER Filed May 25, 1931 Patented Dec. 15, 1931 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE Application filed May 25, 1931. Serial No. 539,872.
The invention relates to hangers and while it is illustrated herein as a curtain hanger it is to be understood that it may be used to hang other things.
An object of the invention is the provision of an adjustable hanger which is simple in construction, durable, and economical to manufacture.
Other objects will be apparent from reading the following specification.
The invention will be fully and comprehensively understood from a consideration of the following detailed descriptionwhen read in connection with the accompanying drawings which form part of the application, with the understanding, however, that the improvement is capable of extended application and is not confined to the exact showing of the drawings nor to the precise construction described and, therefore, such changes and modifications may be made therefrom as do not affect the spirit of the invention nor exceed the scope thereof as expressed in the appended claims.
In the drawings:
Fig. 1 is an elevational view of a window from the inside showing the hanger of my invention secured to the top of the window frame and holding the curtains.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the hanger attached to a window frame. 7
Fig. 3 is avvertical section taken on line 3-3 of Fig. 1, looking in the direction of the arrows; and
Fig. 4 is a fragmentary, of a hanger.
Referring to the drawings for a more detailed description thereof, the hanger comprises a pair of lapped channels 5 and 6 slidable relative to each other to form a hanger adjustable in length. The mentioned channels comprise bottoms 7, back vertical sides 8 and front vertical sides 9. The channels are provided with horizontal flanges 10 extending from the top edges of the vertical sides 8. Said flanges are provided with apertures 12, the apertures in the flange of one channel being adapted to register with the apertures in the frame of the other channel. The apertures 12 are adapted to receive fastening perspective view other, blocks The pair of curtains 18 are held by the hanger, the upper ends of said curtains being positioned in mentioned channels and held therein by blocks 19 having handles 20, said blocks being removably fitted in said channels and snugly fitted in order to securely hold said curtains. 7
It is evident from the foregoing description that by using hangers made in accordance with my invention curtains or other objects may be quickly attached and detached from the hangers and it is obvious from the foregoing description that the hanger described accomplishes the objects of the invention.
What is claimed as new is:
1'. An adjustable holder comprising overlapping channels slidable relative to each other and blocks removably fitted in said channels.
2. An adjustable holder comprising overlapping channels slidable relative to each other, blocks removably fitted in said channels and flanges extending from said channels and adapted to be secured to a support.
An adjustable holder comprising overlapping channels slidable relative to each removably fitted in said channels and flanges extending from said channels and adapted to be secured to a support, said flanges having apertures therein, the apertures in the flange of one channel being adapted to register with'those of the overlapping channel.
4. An adjustable holder comprising overlapping channels slidable relative to each other, blocks removably fitted in said channels, flanges extending rearwardly from said channels and adapted to be secured to a support and depending flanges extending forwardly from said channels.
In testimony whereof I hereby aflix my signature.
SIEGFRIED HIRSCHBERGER.
