Description

Jul'y17, 1923. v 1.461.855
L. J. KROESSER CURTAIN ROD SUPPORT Filed Nov. 28 1921 Inventor. I Ludwig J. Kroesser' bvMMM" Patented duly l7,
LUDWIG J. KROESSER, OF STONEHAM, DIASSAGHUSETTS.
CURTAIN-ROD SUP?ORT.
Application filed November 28, 1921. Serial No. 518,131.
To all'whomitmay concern: r i
Be it known that I, Lnnwis J. Knonssnn, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Stoneham county of Middlesex. State of Massachusetts have invented an improve ment in Curtain-Rod Supports, of which the following description. in connection with the accompanying drawing. is a specification, like characters on the drawing representing like parts.
This invention relates to a device for supporting a curtain rod and has for its object to provide a novel curtain rod supportwhich comprises in its construction a novel holding member adapted to be permanently secured to the window frame, and a rodfsupporting member detachably carried by the holding member and adapted to support the curtain rod.
The holding member is of novel construction and is made so that when it is in place it is very inconspicuous and does not detract at all from the appearance of the window frame, and it is also so constructed that it does not interfere at all with the dusting or cleaning the window frame.
The device has other advantageous featurcs all as will be more fully hereinafter set forth.
Iii-order to give an understanding of the invention .l have illustrated in the drawings a selected embodiment thereof which will now be described after which the novel features will be pointed out in the appended claim.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a corner of a window frame having my improved cur tain rod support applied thereto.
Fig. 9 is an enlarged sectional the line 2-2, Fig. 1.
In the drawings 1 indicates a corner of a window frame and 2 indicates a curtain rod from which curtains or draperies may be hun y Mi; improved curtain rod support eo1nview on prises a rod-supporting member 3 which may have any appropriate shape adapted to properly support the curtain rod 2 and a holder device 4- by which the rod-supporting member 3 is detachably retained in place.
The holding member 41 is made from. a strip of sheet metal which is bent to form the two arms 5 and 6 that stand substantially at right angles to each other, and the intermediate loop portion 7 of a size to receive the stem of the rod supporting member 3. The
holder is intended to be applied to the corner of the window frame with the arms 5 and 6 overlying the side edge 8 and top edge 9 respectively of the window frame. The arms 5 and 6 are provided with apertures to receive nails or screws 10 by which the holder is secured to the window frame.
In making the device the holder will be 'formed so that the angle between the arms 5 and 6 is a little greater than the angle between the surfaces 8 and 9 of the window frame the loop portion 7 will be closed slightly by this operation and thus said loop.
will be caused to firmly grip the stem of the I rodholding member 3. lNith this construction, therefore, the rod-supporting member will be securely held in. place because of the frictional grip which the loop 7 has thereon due to bringing the arms 5 and 6 down against the faces 8 and 9. The rod supporting member 3 can, however, be removed from the holder when it is desired to take down the curtains and when said rod-supporting members are removed the holders 4: are very inconspicuous and do not detract at all from the appearance of the window frame. Moreover the holders are of such shape that they afford no obstacle to the usual dusting or cleaning.
I claim.
In a curtain rod support the combination of arod supporting member, and a holder therefor having a resilient loop-forming socket to positively clamp around and frietionally engage a portion of the rod supporting member, the ends of the socket be ing extended to form arms which have nor mally an angular relation to one another of slightly greater than degrees, whereby when the holder is secured to the squared corner of a window frame the loop will be closed slightly'thereby applying a positive clamping pressure to the said portion of the rod supporting member to tightly and frictionally engage but removably hold the rod supporting member in position.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
LUDWIG J. KROE SSER.
