Application filed March 31, 1928,] Serial itaaegaaeh g This invention relates to combined curtain rod and shade roller brackets andv more particularly to a device of this character adapted to simultaneously support a plurality of curtain rods.
An important object of the invention is to provide a novel and improved support for the present day extensible curtain rods which is of such character that the curtain rod will be very firmly held in position and the curtain applied thereto may be extended beyond the actual end of the rod so that it hides the fixture from View. 7 c
A further object of the invention is to pro vide a device of this. character which, while equipped to support a given number ofrods, may be employed to support a lesser number of rods and in which detachable elements are provided for engaging the rods which may be removed when not in use. i
a A further object of theinvention is to provide a device which will enable straight rods to be employed and will give to these rods a bowed end appearance which materially enhances the beaut curtain applied thereto.
A still further object of the invention is to be readily and cheaply manufactured, which will be durable and efficient in service and 'a general improvement in the art. 1
These and other obj ectsI attain by the construction shown in the. accompanying drawing, wherein for the purpose of illustration'is shown a preferred embodiment of'my invention and wherein 2- Figure 1 is a perspective view of a bracket as viewed from the rear, a curtain rod being indicated in position upon one, of the rod holders in dotted lines;
Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view on the line 2-2 of Figure 1; I
Figure 3-is a section on the line 33 of Figure 2. a
Referring now more particularly to the drawings, the numeral 10 designates a metal? lic strip vertically ribbed at 11 to reinforce the same. The upper end of this strip is provided with a perpendicularly disposed flange 12 adapted to seat upon the upper end of a window frame against the face of which the strip 10 is disposed and having tangs 13 to enter this frame. The lower end of the strip preferably has projecting outwardly therefrom a shade roller bracket 14. At one side edge, the strip is provided with horizontal of the fixture and of the arms 15 which i have their upper and lower,
edges reverted, as at 16, to provide opposed channels '17, each adapted to receive one end of a curtain rod holder 18.
As is well known to those familiar with the art, the the form of a sheet metal strip 19, the side edges of which are reverted, as at 20, to produce opposed channels. The rod holders each comprise a substantially U-shaped strip of spring metal, the end of one is slightly angularly deflected, as at 21, and is of a size to enter and fit between the bases of the channels produced by the reverting-of the edges ofthe curtain rod.
present day flat type curtain rod is in arm'20 of which The deflection at 21 elfectually limits the j GXtGDt'tO which'the rod may be forced thereon. The opposite arm 22 is adapted to enter and fit between the bases of the channels 17 of the arms ofthe bracket and these arms are.
preferably offset at the point of their connection to the bracket, as indicated at 23,50 that they form an end Wall, limiting the extent'to which the arms 22 may be inserted therein and placing the inner faces of the reverted portions in the same plane as the rear I face of the strip 10. provide a device of this character which may It will be obvious that such brackets must be made in pairs and that the arms thereof will project from the outside faces, so that the bowed rod supports project beyond the outer edges of thebrackets and the bracket may be effectually concealedby passing the curtain aboutthe supports. 7 e
As the construction employed is obviously capable of a certain range of change and materially departing modification without from the spirit of the invention, I do not limit myself to such specific structure except as hereinafter claimed.
I claim 1. A curtain rod holder comprising a bracket having means whereby it may be se-' cured to a support, a pluralityof flat arms projecting from the outer side edge of the bracket and having the edges thereof reverted to provide opposed channels and U -shaped metallic strips each having one arm thereof adapted to enterand support an end of a curtain rod and the opposite arm thereof adapted'to engage betweeen the channels of the arm and fit therebetween.
'2. A curtain rod holderv comprising a bracket having means whereby it' may be secured to a support, a plurality of flat arms projecting from the outer side edge of the the arm and fit therebetween,
place the rear faces of the in the same plane as the hack of the strip and produce end Walls limiting movement of the last named arms with relation to said channels.
In testimony whereof signature.
