4 Claims.
This invention relates to brackets used in supporting panel curtains, drapes and a shade, and has as its object the provision of a pair of brackets which may be readily mounted upon the surfaceof a window casing and which are'equipped for supporting therebetween a window shade, curtains and drapes.
The invention together with its objects and advantages will be best understood from a study of the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings wherein:
Figure l is a top plan view illustrating the invention.
Figure 2 is a sectional view taken substantially one line 2-2 of Figure 1.
Figure '3, is a front elevational view of one of the brackets.-
Figure 4 is a perspective view of one of the detachable brackets for the curtain and drape rods. 7
Figure 5 is a fragmentary elevational view of the sliding connection between the sections of the curtain and drape rods, and
V Figure 6 is a fragmentary view in elevation of the end of one of the curtain rods.
.In accordance with the present invention it will be seen that there are provided two bracket assemblies 5 and 6 respectively.
One of the bracket assemblies is provided for attachment to, the window casing at the left hand side thereof while the other of the assemblies is provided for attachment to the casing at the right hand side thereof.
Since the assemblies are substantially identical, a detailed description of one will teach the other.
Thus it will be seen that each assembly comprises a shade roller bracket 1 that is provided at one edge with an attaching flange 8 that is apertured to accommodate fastening elements 9 through the medium of which-the bracket is attached to the surface of the window casing.
At the upper edge thereof the bracket 1 is provided with a lateral flange ID that merges into an upstanding arm ll. i
A substantially U-shaped' curtain rod bracket i 2 is provided and the same has one arm l3 thereof adapted to be disposed against one side of the bracket arm H while the other arm I of the bracket I2 is disposed in spaced parallelism to'the arm II and is provided in its upper edge with a. diagonal slot l5 for a purpose hereinafter more fully referred to. The web of the bracket member I2 is provided with an opening I8 to accommodate a fastening element l6a through the medium of which the bracket I2 is secured to the window casing as shown in Figure 1.
A second curtain rod bracket H is provided and the same is substantially identical with the bracket I2 except that it is about one-half the size of the bracket l2 and is adapted to fit within the bracket l2 at one end of the latter as clearly shown in Figures 1 and a.
The bracket I! has an arm l8 thereof that is disposed in facial contact with the arm II at the side of the latter opposite to the arm 53 and arm 83 and it are secured to the arm ll through the medium'of bolts or rivets l9, arms H, I 3 and I8 being provided with registering openings to accommodate the bolts I!) as shown.
The other arm 20 of bracket I1 is disposed intermediate arms H and I4 and is provided in its upper edge with a diagonal, inclined slot H asshown.
The upper edges of the arms l3 and I8 are connected by a web portion 22.
A pair of sectional curtain and drape rods 23 and 2d of channel shape in cross section, are provided at their ends with a channel shaped adapter 25 adapted to receive the arms I4 and 2d, the adaptors having pins 26 and 26', respectively, disposed transversely thereof and the pins are received in the slots [5 and 2|, respectively,
'of the arms M and 20 to retain the rods in posiof the brackets 12 will support therebetween a rod 24 from which may be suspended a valance or drape while the arms 20 of brackets I! will serve to support therebetween a rod 23 identical with the rod 24 and used for suspending or supclaimed as new is:
1. In a device of the class described, a bracket assembly including a bracket member having at one edge thereof an apertured attaching flange and also having at its upper edge a laterally extending flange mer ing into a vertically disposed arm, a substantially U-shaped bracket having an arm contacting the first-named arm at one side of the latter and a second arm in parallelism to the first-named arm and provided to be engaged by one end of a curtain rod, and a second suba channel member open along its upper edge, each of said channel members. being adapted to receive in the channel thereof an arm of a supporting bracket, said arm having a notch in its upper edge, and a pin bridging the space between the sides or said channel member and engageable in the notch of said arm for detachably supporting said channel members on said arm.-
3. In a bracket assembly of the character described, a shade roller bracket provided at one vertical edge with means for mounting the bracket on the surface of a window casing, and provided at its upper edge with a lateral flange merging into an upstanding arm, and a pair of U-shaped bracket members each having one arm thereof secured to each other and adapted for supporting on the first-named arm and a second arm spaced from the first-named arm, the second named arms of the brackets of said pair being laterally spaced from one another and each being adapted to have one end of a curtain rod engaged therewith.
4. In a, bracket assembly of the character described, a shade roller bracket provided at one vertical edge with means for mounting the bracket on the surface of a window casing and provided at its upper edge with an offset forming an upstanding arm and a pair of U-shaped bracket members each having spaced apart arms, a pair of said arms being connected at their upper edges and adapted for supporting on the upper edge of said upstanding arm, each of said remaining arms of the U-shaped bracket members being provided with an inclined slot extending downwardly from their upper edges and adapted to receive the ends of channel-shaped curtain rods having transverse pins seated in the slots of said last-named arms for supporting said rods on said last-named arms.
