Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 179,897, dated July 18, 1876 application filed December 23, 1875.

Be it known that I, IRVING G. OoWLEs, of Syracuse, in the county ofOnondaga and State of New York, have invented a new, novel, and useful article for the pocket, consisting of a match-safe, pin-cushion, and a receptacle for postage-stamps.
Construction and operation of my invention are fully setforth in the following specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of my in vention; Fig. 2,,a longitudinal section.
A B O, the match-safe; D, the pin-cushion, and F the stamp-receptacle.
The object of my invention is to form, in a novel and economical manner, in connection with a match-safe, a convenient pin-cushion and safe mode of carrying postage stamps without their becoming sticky from the moisture of the body, or getting otherwise soiled.
My invention is constructed in the following manner: A box, E, Fig. 2, is formed of convenient size for the vest-pocket, in which three fonrths of the space is divided lengthwise for the match-safe A B G. The remaining one-fourth is divided crosswise0ne-half forthepin-cnshion D, the other halffor thepostage-stampreceptacleF. Thestamp-receptacle and match-safe have covers hinged in the usual manner. Each part is so arranged that one will not interfere with the other.
I claim as my invention- An article for the pocket, consisting of the match-safe A B G, having on half of one of its sides a pinecushion, D, and on the other half of the same side a receptacle for postagestamps, F, substantially as described.
